Any moms taking their little ones out on the Fourth of July? My LO is 3 months and loves lights, but I don't know if it would be worth getting so off schedule (she usually goes to sleep around 7:30 pm). Thoughts?
We haven't decided but since we live in the county and not the city all of our neighbors will be setting them off. I'm wondering if the noise will keep him awake.
I'm wondering the same thing. I'm afraid the loud noises may scare the crap out of her and I'm not sure if it would be worth it. I LOVE fireworks though. I'm curious what other moms will be doing.
@mamaskittles09 I'm the same way! I love fireworks and think LO will too but still worried. Not sure how she'll react to the noise. Maybe if we stay far away?
We are going to a party that day. I don't think one night will throw off her sleep too much. If she falls asleep I can put her down in their room. I'm thinking if she's awake I'll watch from inside the house mostly because I'm afraid the smoke will bother her too much.
We are on the lake so we sit on the dock and watch. If she's awake she will come with us. I got babyganics bug spray just in case. I'm not concerned about it. Just read how your LO reacts, he or she will let you know if it's too much!
Last night there was some ppl shoting off the big fireworks. So i took my LO and 2 year old out to see them. Needless to say my toddler nearly craped her pants(lol) and my LO just jumped a little. I just wounder what my 1 year old will think. Its weird how every child is different because we didnt have any trouble with my 6 year old when he was those ages. So i say i will probably be setting in the house this 4 of july. and i love fireworks.
My mom is making her a netting to go over her bassinet to keep the mosquitos out and she will be in it outside. If it bothers her then we will go inside. I want to at least to try to set off some fireworks since it's something I've been doing every 4th since I was a kid
Thanks for all the advice! Netting/bug spray is a great idea. And @zandyb that is so sad! Hopefully you can still enjoy your celebration. Happy 4th everyone!!
I live in rural part of Oklahoma but all the houses are close to eachother. It's like a lightening storm of fireworks from every direction. It's turned into a competition with 3 of my neighbors and the initial and after BOOM is like a cannon loud. I took LO out to see them and he must not have cared too much. He fell asleep to the constant booms after jumping every once in a while. My dog on the other hand who stayed in the house has been a nervous wreck lol
I read that a 30 min show is no more dangerous for the baby than an adult, and to simply not be really close to them (maybe a couple miles away it said). We usually go to a big show in a park next to my in laws house, and I will probably watch from a window because they are really close. Later in the summer we go on a family vacation during a festival and everyone sits downtown and there is an amazing fireworks show on thr lake; they are pretty close, so I probably won't go this year. Next year, he'll be about 16 months old, and I'll probably bring some kind of ear protection for him just bc they're so close.
We usually go for a walk around the neighborhood between 7:45 and 8:00, and start getting him ready for bed around 8:30. I think we'll let him stay up and just sit outside and watch. We live I'm Los Angeles so I'm sure there will be some near enough for us to see, but not close enough to scare him.
My daughter loved them! I was so surprised. She smiled and cooed the whole time. I watched her more than I watched the fireworks. This mom thing is going to be a blast
