Random - hosting a baby shower - need input :)

I am having my best friend a baby shower in August. She is having a girl. What were some special/unique things that were done for you that you loved? I am pinterested out and tired of looking through things but want it to be cute and fun and anything unique would be awesome! All of my girlfriends are pregnant this fall (finally!) so there are going to be LOTS of showers to attend. Thanks girls!

  • My sister threw my baby shower. The best thing she did was have everyone write advice for me and my BF. Everyone had something awesome to say. I still have the cards from everybody and my DD is three months old.

  • For my babyshower we played some fun games and gave out prizes. I filled up a baby bottle with gum balls and had everyone guess how much was inside. When entering the babyshower my mom gave everyone a necklace that had a pacifier, the object of that game is to collect as many necklaces as you can from other ppl, whomever said the word "baby" would have thier necklace taken away and at the end of the party whoever had the most pacifier necklaces would win the prize. The last one was the belly tap, ppl had to guess how big your belly was without touching you and whoever got the closes gets the prize.
  • The best thing that my mom did for my shower was a "station" at the entrance for everyone to self address an envelope. This way when I did my thank you cards I could just write the card and stick it in the envelope that was already completed!!
  • Here are some photos from my shower. For activities we had a onsie station and a canvas painting I put up in my baby's nursery made of their thumbprints. Ask her what her nursery / baby decor theme will be and that will help give you ideas.
  • Thanks ladies!
  • My mom hosted mine. On the invitations she asked people to please pick out a book for my little one instead of getting a card. This was awesome because now we have a decent little library that has been started. My mom also had several little games going like saying the word "baby," having an ice cube with a baby in it and whoevers melted first yelled my water broke. They also played a bingo game while I opened presents and could win different prizes which helped keep them all entertained. Halfway through presents there was another game where I answered fun/silly trivia questions about my pregnancy and my husband. My friends also helped my mom and added onsies to the decorations which was great. One thing I would change is asking people to buy bigger sizes... I got a ton of newborn and 3 month size outfits and onsies from people but my little man was 10lbs 11oz when he was born so he skipped newborn size all together and grew out of 3 month size really quickly, lol. My husband is 6ft 5in and I am 5ft 10in and my baby was a week late. I could barely sit up straight bc he was so big, lol.
  • Thank you! I love the book idea, I had the idea to do bows instead of books and she loves that idea. I'm excited since its kind of unique ;)
  • For my baby shower there was a station of baby books and ppl got to write a note or letter inside for the baby, so when she gets older she gets to read what ppl said.
  • I threw a shower for a friend having a girl. I made a station where you could make headbands. Set up markers and diapers to write notes on diaper and did a candy bar
  • My friends did a bow bar for me as well and I loved it! They were smart and bought headbands of all sizes so my LO will have them for a long time. :) Also, everyone wrote a little note on their bow. Here are some pics.

    Good luck! Have fun!
  • Precious!
  • Not really a new idea, but a diaper raffle is an easy way to make sure the mommy to be gets a ton of diapers. Include a note on the invitation for guests to bring diapers or wipes of any size to be entered in a raffle to win a great prize. The prize can be a fun bag with bath and body products or even just a gift card.
    Anniversary
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • At my baby shower there was a stack of cards and everyone pulled a number out of a hat. Whatever number they pulled they had to write a card to be opened on that birthday. Ie. My husbands grandmother pulled 16 and wrote a card to be opened on baby's 16th bday and she has since passed so it will be a sweet momento. We enjoy opening the cards each year and reading the notes.
  • Diaper raffle for sure!! My son is 3 months and I just bought my 1st pack of diapers. I even exchanged for different sizes with no hassle from babies r us and target
  • Thanks yall! Love the card idea and the diaper raffle :)
