6wo refusing to sleep. Im going insane

I've been trying to put lo to sleep for 90 minutes. He has fallen asleep three times. Will wake up within 10 minutes each time. Won't take bottle. Full tummy. Clean diaper. No gas coming out. In swaddle with white noise. 5 s not doing a damn thing.
Please help. I am at my wits end. Has done this all day for naps too.

  • What about movement? My girl seems to be calmed by a vibrating bouncer, car ride or stroller walk. Also some other ideas I try changing temperature like a warmer room or cooler pajamas. I also check if there's too much light or not enough. There's also some info on the web about baby massage you can check out. I've been there!! Hope this helps!!

  • Have you tried gas drops or gripe water? The gripe water helped my little one a lot. She usually needs a couple of doses over the course of a few hours but that last dose really settles her at night.
  • Maybe he just needs snuggles.
  • Snuggles don't seem to settle him and we've tried gripe water. Room is very dark. I can try more gripe water at next feeding Since he only had the one dose.
He screams and head Butts during snuggles too. He just fights being put down and then gets over tired. Vicious cycle
  • Sounds like you might be in the midst of his 6 week growth spurt. You might be in for a rough 24-48 hours. Hang in there!
  • Sounds like it could be the hell that is the 6 week growth spurt. Ours lasted about 3 days. Hang in there!!
  • Depending on the outside temperature (it's still fairly warm at night where I am), a walk outside in the fresh air may help. I got through the 6 wk growth spurt with my twins by pacing the back deck A LOT
  • We had 2 days of cluster feeding and being overtired and fussy with the 6 wk growth spurt. Yesterday baby was content and weather was gorgeous so we walked in our yard and he calmed down to the point where he was drifting to sleep. Hang in there! If all else fails call someone else to relieve you. You don't have to do it alone!!

Update - baby's formula was constipating him. Many people told me constipation had to be pebbles when in fact two docs told us that the clay like poop my LO was making was constipation. He seems much better now and we are switching formula.

Also I'm sure you didn't mean anything, @nursej519 but I snuggle the crap out of my baby. And after a long bout with infertility, the gut wrenching process of having to stop breastfeeding due to my medical issues, and then trying to console a baby in severe abdominal pain, the last thing I needed to hear was an insinuation that my baby isn't getting cuddle enough. I'm sure you meant nothing by your comment and it's my hormones and stuff.. but it was a little upsetting to read that given my circumstances. Just thought I'd mention it.
