3rd Trimester

On my feet a lot! 35 weeks.

My job requires me to be on my feet and walking around for several hours of the day. Good thing is it's helped keep me in shape during my pregnancy. But It definitely takes a toll on me somedays and I worry if it effects the baby? My dr says no, but I still worry. Also, does this mean I could go into labor early?

  • No it won't make you go into early labor many women work on their feet right up until they go into labor.

  • I chase after a 2 year old all day long, carry her around quite frequently, and go up and down our stairs a million times a day. Baby is fine. The vast majority of women throughout history have not had the option of an 8 hour a day desk job :) Most have been on their feet up until the day the baby was born. You're not going to hurt the baby by walking around several hours a day. If anything it is going to keep you healthier.
  • Unless your doctor tells you otherwise and gives you restrictions the baby will be fine the only thing is swollen feet and ankles more from standing for long periods of time. Sitting for long periods of time isn't good anyway since you can get a blood clot so walking around is good for you.

So why ask us? The vast majority of us have no medical training, and we don't know you or your health history.

  • You know that police, military, RN'S and such are all on their feet during their pregnancy. Even till the very end.
    Thank God for Raid.

Well, your doctor said not to worry -- why don't you trust him/her?
