Breast implants and BF/pumping

So I JUST found out that I shouldn't put my pump on a very high setting with pumping due to a breast augmentation procedure done 4 years ago (I wasn't even a A cup and now I'm a full A...well, prior to pregnancy). Does anyone else have any precautions or issues with breastfeeding and pumping post augmentation? I'm currently recovering from mastitis so my right breast feels very painful and lumpy at times. I realize it's probably just the mastitis but I'm always concerned about that silicone implant that was placed under the muscle.

Ugh, I wish I never got these implants. They are probably the reason behind my poor supply and just another thing to worry about! :/

If they're placed under the muscle then I don't see why you would have an issue with the pumping. Did the doctor tell you that?

  • No I haven't asked yet. I read it on a website a few days ago. Of course, now I can't find the site again...
  • I have implants under the muscle and have a great supply. I've never had any issues with pumping or breastfeeding. I was told by a lactation nurse that moms with implants have less room to expand when the milk comes in. This is very true for me. When I get full my boobs get hard and lumpy mostly at night. That may be why you got the mastitis is the lack of room. I was a tiny A pre surgery as well. I would recommend talking to a lactation nurse since everyone is different.
