I Feel Disgusting

I am 18 weeks with no bump and I don't feel pregnant either. I am just getting a jelly belly. Is anyone else feeling this way?

  • I feel pregnant and I have a bump I'm 15 weeks. But I'm so tired all the time, nothing ever sounds delicious, I'm always hot, and always dizzy, and I'm sick and tired of my hair getting greasy 5 minutes after a shower!

So I have the disgusting part down.
Sorry you feel icky; I hope things change for you soon! Is this your first? Did you have a little extra weight before the pregnancy?

My SIL was pretty overweight before she got pregnant and didn't get a bump until she was about 30 weeks.
  • @SamanthaAshley820
I was actually maybe 10lbs over weight from my last pregnancy. This is my 5th pregnancy, I just want a firm bump not a muffin top
  • @marsbars25
I have 8lbs and I workout also and your so right about it not helping the belly! Good look and I hope we get our bump soon!!
  • @mmk29
Your sweet! It wasn't easy I have always battle with my weight
  • I'm getting a jelly belly, too; no baby bump yet at almost sixteen weeks. It's hard to like the way you look with a jelly belly, especially when everyone always tells pregnant women with bumps that their bumps are "SO CUTE OMGZ" but IMHO society needs to back off of making women feel bad about their bodies. We're growing babies here.
  • I'm a slim-ish girl, almost 19 weeks and the same... I asked my OB about it at my appointment today as I was worried I was putting on too much weight. He said its normal at this stage to feel fat and I'll start to look pregnant after 20 weeks! On the bright side I think the movement has started!!!!
  • F*** society and the standards they set for women. I'm with you on the jelly belly. 18+2

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • Last night I was laying on my back in bed, and if you inhale completely and fill your diaphragm your belly gets huge and feels hard as a rock... If you want to pretend. Lol it kind of hurts to do it though... A lot of pressure haha

LOL I love this. I gave it a try after reading your comment!

I tried on a huge belly at a maternity store and took a photo in really bad fitting room lighting, and whenever I say I want a bump I look back at said photo. I look so awkward and huge that I will change my mind for a few days!

Tried it and it's feels awkward ha ha ha
  • The bottom part of my belly is firm but the top is jiggly. It's odd with clothes. I'm also really small up top, which I think makes it worse. DH told me last night my boobs have lost the race.

My boob are huge! I am waiting for my jelly belly to pass my boobs but I am praying I will get the firm belly if it does pass my boobs!
  • I feel pretty gross, too. I've always had body "issues," but they are getting worse because I'm gaining so much weight. :(
  • This is my 2nd baby & I feel huge! I don't think I've gained so much as I feel absolutely bloated and my back hurts and I feel heavy walking around :/ ... Only at 21 weeks so I have a while to go. I was a bowling ball by 37 weeks last time around so I'll be looking forward to that

Feel the same way hoping I will wake up to a bump instead of a roll
  • I'm right there with you starting to get a belly but so far I just look fat I was under weight when I got pregnant so I've gained enough to be healthy on top of some baby weight I'm not used to being this big I feel disgusting and my appetite is non stop ugh I'm just short of 20 weeks half way I'm sorry you feel like that hun at least it's for good reason
  • I'm 22 weeks and a couple days and my belly hasn't really shown . I was a chubby girl but not by too much and the last time I weighed my self I had lost 2 pounds. My stomach isn't hard yet it's still jelly and noone believes I'm pregnant. Only the bottom part of my stomach is hard but my doctor said it was fine to just keep taking vitamins and eat small portions. That some women don't get a hard stomach till 25 weeks
  • I also just feel gross, I have lost about 40 lbs i am overwieght anyway and dr is not worried I have to push pretty hard to feel the "hard uterus". I wish I could either look pregnant or stop feeling gross.
  • I feel all of you on the jelly belly thing. I'm overweight so I keep wishing I'd lost weight before the pregnancy so I could have a bump! Im 20 weeks and i just look extra overweight. The only thing thats changed is ive had to start using maternity pants bc my old pants made too much pressure when i sat down. I've decided that the plus side of this is I get to "hide" the pregnancy longer and by doing so avoid people fussing at me and asking me a ton of questions.
  • I think it all sucks - I wanted to look more pregnant, and I definitely do now (at 21 weeks) but I still feel gross because my belly is round but still pretty soft, and I've gained about 5 lbs more than I wanted to at this point - up 15 lbs already. So mad at myself, but I'm so damn hungry! Still running and trying to eat healthy, but failing at calorie control
  • My stomach shifted up pretty quickly (stm) so now at 22 weeks the underneath has at least filled out, but I still have a weird sunken belly button look. And it doesn't help that my boobs are enormous, it makes me look so much bigger with most clothes. I'm up 15 pounds, which is less than the same point last pregnancy (healthy weight and bmi prior) so I was feeling good about that!

You said exactly how I feel. I am still working out 4 times a week and calorie counting but I also fail especially on the weekends. I feel like I'm letting myself go....
    Good luck!
  • I started wearing slightly tighter shirts so that I look a little more pregnant and not just fat (although I am fat - I was quite overweight when I got pregnant and I've been bad about my portion control in the last few weeks since I've been hungry all the time and health food hasn't sounded good)... But with the more form fitting shirts (and more "maternity" clothing), I've started to look pregnant and not just fat. But I have to be careful because if I look at myself too long, I convince myself I just look fat.

With clothes off I very much just look super fat and gross.
  • I am very happy you posted this. I've been having a hard time with "jelly belly," I've really lost my confidence from it. I just look gross and don't want anyone to see me naked im so embarrassed. I'm thinking no sex for the rest of my pregnancy.

I gained 25 lbs and I am only 21 weeks 4 days. My belly was super bloated since the beginning and jelly belly up until the past week or so. Now it's a rock hard baby belly! This is baby 6 and I was slightly above my normal weight when I got pregnant. Like 5-10 lbs... Once it turns hard belly, you will be wishing it went back down lol. Everything is more uncomfortable and harder to do.
