I don't like Marie... Help!!

Sorry for the ones who like the name..... this is just my feelings about it. DH is set on naming (if a girl) after his mother... Gail Marie... Using one of the two as her MN. I don't really care for either but the one I hate the most is Marie. I don't like it because it is sooooo over used and unoriginal, boring. It feel like I couldn't think of anything better so just went with the forever go to MN of Marie. He doesn't want any variations of it either... Like Marielle or whatever. I am having a seriously hard time thinking of anything that would go with Gail (no NOT Abby). But everything seems to go with Marie (probably why it's so over used.) Our last name is Johnson...My choices have been...
1. Adaline Gail
2. Lena Gail
And well... That's it really. I am open to any suggestions.

We had Marie picked out as a middle name too, but it didn't sit well with me. A few months ago, we decided to add a "KE" to the end, to make "Marieke". It's an actual name, and the "KE" is to honour my grandfathers, both named Kenneth.

I'd just use Gail then...I like Adeline Gail, it flows well. Also I prefer Elena to just Lena

Adaline is so overdone right now. I'd avoid it if I were you since it sounds like you don't like names that are played out. Since middle names are rarely used, maybe you hubs would like to use her maiden name as middle name. I always love that! I also think Ada might work well for you since you like Adaline. Ada Marie might be nice.

I like Gail. It works with lots of names and is definitely more original than Marie. Love the suggestion of Ada Gail.

I actually love Marie. Yeah it's a little overused but it's still a pretty name. I find Gail somewhat unattractive but it does flow well with a lot of names.

I don't love Adaline but it's not a horrible name. I'm just over the whole Addie/Maddie thing. I do like Lena but it feels a little incomplete to me. I love the suggestion of Helena with the nn Lena. Here are some other names that I think go well with Gail.

Thanks for the suggestions. DH likes Elena better than Lena also. Can't use MIL Maiden name as MN it is not functional like that or feminine in any way. I did look further into what her mother's maiden name is... also very masculine. I haven't fell in love with Adaline. Didn't know it was gaining popularity actually. Thanks for the heads up on that. Seems like most of the names suggested end with an "a" maybe I'll try out a few of those on DH.
