Spooked! Not pregnancy related.

I woke up out of a deep sleep with the feeling something wasn't right. I got up walked around the house and found that the entry way door from the garage to the kitchen was wide open and the door knob was locked. I have zero clue how this happened. I woke up hubs and asked him to look around- he didn't find anything so he went back to bed. I'm so creeped out I can't go back to sleep. Anyone else have anything spooky going on? How did you deal?

  • Why did I read this when I'm trying to go back to sleep? I got nothing spooky going on but I do have a VERY active imagination so I spook easily. Maybe y'all didn't shut it all the way when you locked it? Hopefully?

  • I'm also thinking it didn't get shut all the way when you locked it. My husband does this ALL the time with the door to the garage cause it shuts harder than our other doors. Drives me nuts cause we have a toddler that could easily go behind and open it then (she's fortunately very well behaved and hasn't). Still a little creepy, but I'm sure that's all it was.
  • Happened to me one time. When I first got pregnant DH and I were sleeping and we heard our dog whine and cry and he was getting very upset. Our dog never gets worked up over anything. My husband goes and checks and the living room door was wide open. Omg I almost had a heart attack. We called 911 and they came and looked and said it looked like we didn't shut the door all the way. We he a lot of wind that night so it blew the door wide open!
  • My SO might of found a bed bug. Were now at my parents house. I'll take a door wide open please

You win. Once the sun came up I was less freaked out- although I live in GA so I'm a little worried about what was living in my garage is now in my house- but I can take care of that easily. Bedbugs- nope that's expensive. Good luck!!!
  • I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep after something like that. I'm a big sissy pants.

I didn't I just laid there and listened to every creak in the house- silently cursing my husband.
  • The other night/early morning we had a helicopter circling over our house and neighborhood for about 45 minutes. And of course DH was gone at work. I was more than spooked! I wasn't able to fall asleep until after 3am and every little noise woke me up after that. Needless to say the next day was rough!

Yeah I'm hoping our landlord pays for it if its even that and I'm hoping it's not. Hope no creepy crawlies got into your house!
  • That happened to be the other day. I got in my car and left. Nope. Nope. Nope!
  • I was living in a house once where the previous owner had recently passed away. I got up early one morning and went to the kitchen for a drink, passing the door to the garage. It was open, and the hall was chilly. I figured someone hadn't shut it right so I shut it and went on to the kitchen. On my way back, it had opened again! This is a normally creaky door, but this entire time it was totally silent. I was the only one up too. I went back to the kitchen again deciding to take a drink with me back to bed, and on my way back to my room, the door had opened a third time. This time I locked it!! It stayed shut after that. -insert spooky music-

Okay so I wasn't really scared of this, but it still made me laugh and this is the most appropriate thread to share it on. Have any of you had the scam calls when the caller ID shows YOUR home number is the one calling?? The first time it happened my husband was traveling for business and the phone rang - I looked at the caller ID and saw my own home number pop up and all I could think was, "The call is coming from inside the house!!"

My husbands dad has had this happen to him a few times. Creepy!!!!

  • I had a college dorm door that would randomly open wide, even when it was locked. You could shut and lock the door and just turn around and it would be wide open again. To make it worse, the door was in the bathroom and opened outward, so we couldn't even prop it closed. I HATED it!

  • We lived in a "haunted" mansion this winter and we never got spooked because as we joked Hans(the ghost) liked us. Our housemate on the other hand didn't sleep for days because of all of the clanging and creepy noises. Then one day we came back from work and he was gone, left all his stuff and never came back. I think he was more haunted than the house lol.
  • We were living in an apartment about 5 years ago and a lot of creepy stuff would happen from time to time.  I remember one time it was close to the time we normally go to bed and I walked through the living room (which provides a clear view to the kitchen) to walk to the bedroom.  I saw my husband in the kitchen and it appeared he was cooking on the stove and had his back turned to me.  I instantly got a little annoyed but just walked through and went into the bedroom.  The lights were already off and as I was getting ready for bed I shouted for him to hurry up and finish whatever he was doing and come to bed.  Then I heard his voice from the bed and he asked me who the hell I was talking to.  I completely freaked out and ran out and saw that there wasn't anyone in the kitchen after all.  Needless to say, I had him search the entire apartment for this mysterious cooking man, lol.

I know this was probably just my mind playing tricks on me, but to this day it still creeps me out thinking about that.  But something that was interesting also is that one of the reasons we moved was because we found out that there was mold growing due to a leak from the apartment upstairs.  Sometimes I wonder if that was making us both a little loopy.
