  I'd go with David Benson. For me it rolls of the tongue better.

  I like the uniqueness. It's NMS but I think it's a solid name. Would you have a nn for Benson (Ben?).

  Benson David is really nice! It seems like Benson is a unique boy's name but not off the wall. Very cool.

  I liked it until reading pp's comment about cigarettes, and now I'm just reminded of my brother's idiot friend who named his two Doberman puppies Benson and Hedges... Dangit, I hate it how so many names have other associations that just ruin them.

  Totally agree!!! It's so frustrating! We just found out we're having a girl and have no names so we went through a list of names and for each one my husband or I could associate them to something! Whether it be a product or a girl we didn't like in high school :P

  Wasn't Benson one of the scientist Muppets? I seem to remember Benson and Beaker.... I could be wrong though.
  
  Edit: I looked it up, because I know you were dying to know. I was wrong, it was Bunson. That makes more sense, like a Bunson burner, duh. Anyway....

  Ha! It was Bunson (as in the burner) and Beaker.  Love those muppets!!

  Just because internet strangers associate the name with something else doesn't mean that you do. Personally I couldn't because I am a Law and Order SVU fanatic. However if you like the name then go with it. Ben is a cute nn too!
