I've had friends say they found out their baby's gender through a blood test. Has anybody on here done that? It doesn't make sense to me..How does it work??
Yes, it's called cell-free DNA or cfDNA. Basically, fragments of the baby's DNA get transferred through the placenta into the mother's blood. They can be detected through a blood test. There are several different companies that process the test and have different names for it. We did the Harmony test. It is more sensitive/specific than standard first trimester screenings and can tell you the sex of the baby by looking for that chromosome.

These test look for possible genetic abnormalities. So yes they can tell you the sex, but that is not the purpose just a small bonus. They should not be used as an earmy way to find out the sex.
