I have it too. Benadryl brand creams and ointments have been the biggest help to me. Try to find ones with the "cooling" ingredient. I also have been spacing out my showers as the hot water seems to make it worse. I go a day or two before showering now and it seems to help. I know from experience the itch can literally drive you insane! Try to hang in there and know you're not alone. Baby will be worth it, right?
I had it with my first pregnancy, it was a nightmare! I attomatically thought because I had it once that I would get it each time, but I've been lucky and only had it the once. Definitely ask for a prescription, and my dr told me to stay away from cocoa butter!
My midwife suggested "liver blend" by Solaray. It is a vitamin - mainly dandelion root. I take about 6 a day. You can't overdose on it or anything like that. Completely natural. It has helped! I keep putting vitamin E oil on my belly as well. Hope you find some relief!
I have this and I'm miserable the only thing working for me is benadryl by mouth every night. I have tried the benadryl Spray during the day, but my itching seems worse at night. Ice packs help too. Cold showers immediately followed by cortisone cream. My doctor said it should go away once the baby is here so hang in there! I have a c-section scheduled for 7/7 so I'm counting the days!
Hi ladies- I had this mid/ pregancy for about 4 weeks - it is so uncomfortable! I found that soaking my feet in cold water and using grandpas old pine tar soap were the best relief and in my case cure. I ordered the soap here https://www.grandpabrands.com/categories/grandpas-pine-tar - I also eliminated all other scented products (apart from face wash, deodorant and shampoo) my Dr prescribed a emulsifying ointment which I used as both soap and moisturiser until my pinetar soap arrived. I have been totally PUPPs free for 6 weeks now as a result best of luck and I hope this is useful for you!
I read on another thread that tar soap helps. Maybe google it? I don't have it myself, but have had friends that had PUPPS. It's the worst.
Yes! Grandpa's Pine Tar soap. You can get it at GNC and Amazon (not sure where else). It was the only thing that worked for me. I took 3-4 showers a day with it.
I had it my first pregnancy and it was worse than labor itself! Luckily it hasn't come back this time and I'm about 39 weeks. Oatmeal baths helped me. I'd even take them in the middle of the night so I could get back to sleep. Put the oatmeal in a food processor so it's really fine.
I am also dealing with PUPPS. DH is at the store buying oatmeal bath as we speak. The itching is infernal! I have been using Benadryl, Calamine, and aloe vera, which works for a few mins at a time. Question for the ones who have given birth: how did the itching affect your labor experience?
I have this insane body rash AFTER giving birth. It's driving me insane. I want to bond with my baby. All I can do is cry and itch!!! I don't think. It's technically pupps. It's from an allergic reaction to adhesive on a drape used during the CS. That was 6 days ago and I still want to peel my skin off. I'm on prednisone and 2 Benadryl tabs 3-4x a day. (Thankfully it hasn't affected breast-feeding at all) I use a soap called Grandpas pine tar soap and spray witch hazel on after cool showers. It helps temporally but as soon as anything (shirts the baby, pillows, sheets) touches me it starts all over again. It has spread from just below my chest to the top of my thighs.
