Colgate tooth whitening brush and pen

can I use a teeth whitening pen while pregnant?

Re: Colgate tooth whitening brush and pen

  • I don't know about the pen but my dentist said no to the whitening strips & mouthwash. Maybe call your OB or dentist? I tried to Google it for you but it looks like there are mixed opinions on whitening products.

Whitening products are just peroxide ... I don't see why your dentist would be against it. Maybe because of you have swollen gums ( which lots of pregnant ladies do, peroxide will burn like a mother f$&@ker). But if your gums are healthy I don't see why not

I think there is more of a concern with in office whitening because it is much more concentrated and can burn even healthy gums. That's why the isolate your teeth from your gums with material before placing the product.

  • You can probably find an answer googling it too. I look up a lot of products this way.

  • I agree with pp but mine said no way to teeth whitening. I'd check with my OB if I were you.

Also agree with PPs. Doesn't hurt asking your OB just to be safe.

  • I'm a hygienist and the reason dentists say no to whitening during pregnancy is there isn't any research supporting that whitening is/ or isn't harmful during pregnancy. It's more of a precaution. It would probably be fine, but since it isn't a necessary thing- it's best to be safe and wait until baby comes :)
