Terrified of the 20's

We had a big scare yesterday. I Ent to a patients home and once I entered their 4 giant Rottweilers (show dogs) started jumping on me. They had no intention of hurting me, but we're jumping up to lick my face. About an hour later, I started cramping and spotting. Thankfully, bc it was while I was working, I had to go to the ER whom quickly sent me right up to OB. I had contractions every 2-3 minutes for several hours. They stopped them with IV fluids and a muscle relaxer. (I don't remember what it was called but it began with a T). Everything is fine now just rest and fluids, but we had to have some really tough discussions. At 22 weeks, our little ones are probably viable but would have a long, emotional road ahead. Here's to all of us making it to at least 30 weeks. Stay put little ones, you have a lot more cooking to do!

  • Good luck! Try not to worry- it will it make your body more of a stressful home for your babies. I know easier said than done, but try to not worry. Praying for you all
  • If you're still there ask them if it's too early to give you the steroid shots. You get 2 within 24 hours that help develop baby's lungs. Also take heart, I believe there would have been another drug they could have given you to help stop labor.
  • That's so scary! I'm glad you and little one are ok!
  • How terrifying for you. I feel scared just thinking about it. I'm so glad you and babies are ok. I'll cross my fingers for you and everyone else that we can at least get to 30 weeks. I second what PP says, worrying can cause more stress. Put your feet up and get your SO to do everything for you.
  • I would have been so scared! Thankfully they stopped everything. Take it easy momma.
  • So scary! I'll be thinking of you and your LO!

  • I had preterm labor with my first for 6 weeks starting at 32 weeks. He made it to 38 weeks with the help of bi weekly IV fluids and lots bed rest. I know how tough and scary it can be, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and your LO. Make sure you take it easy.
  • Not fun! With my second I started having contractions at 23 weeks about 3 min apart. I can't remember what the gave me but it helped stop the contractions. Even though my cervix was softening the lil guy help on until 30min AFTER his due date!! No one expected him to stay that long. I'm not going to lie 17 weeks of contractions sucked! Lots of rest if you can and stay hydrated. I also got hours reduced at work and stopped working at about 35 wks
  • I'm so sorry that happened to you. Look on the bright side- you work at the perfect place for something like that to happen! I am so happy they could keep your contractions under control and the bleeding stopped. Please take it easy over the weekend and thank you for keeping all of us in mind. I agree our babies have a LOT more cooking to do!
  • Best wishes! I hope LO keeps baking in there and you both are OK.
