Baby shower question?

I was wondering if its too early to start planning my baby shower? I'm very impatient! I was wanting to have it in the beginning of September. I know that's like 2 months away. But I've always been one to over planning. Hahha.

And before the opinions about me planning my own baby shower start to roll in; yes, I'm helping plan my own! But I'm very picky and want to make sure I like the plans and they arent cheesy.

Re: Baby shower question?

  • I'd say invites should go out about 6 weeks before your date, so you're right on track! Have you picked the when and where? And a theme, if you're having one? If so, I'd send invites and go from there.

  • It's not too early! With all the planning for baby and life it's possible to let the shower slip until the last minute.

DH, little sister, and I are planning mine. Well, I'm doing 90% of the planning. I'm starting to majorly plan it now and it will be on September 6th. Good luck!
  • Thanks ladies! I have nothing planned and I don't want it to just be thrown together last minute!
  • As you shouldn't be the one planning/throwing your own baby shower, no need to do any work at any point. Sit back and relax!

Mine is in September (supposed to be a surprise, but I'm almost positive of the date) but I know that the venue, food, etc, has already been decided and booked. My mom is excited and can't keep her mouth shut, lol.
  • My mil has almost everything ready for my shower in September (venue reserved, centerpieces, favors, game prizes, etc.) so I don't think it's too early.
  • My mom and I just started really getting into planning mine! She booked the caterer a month ago but today we started thinking about invites and decorations. It's the first week of Sept I think this is perfect time. Good luck!

It's time girl! Lol my invitations went out today :)
Baby shower is August 9th! :)
  • I'll be 24 weeks for my baby shower. Which is actually a week from this Saturday. DH and I live in CO. our home base is in MO. As are ALL of our friends and family. It was the only week we could go home this summer before the baby arrives. So, IMHO nope don't think it's too early.
  • Ours will be August 22nd and we are putting together our invite list. Planning on sending out invites by July 18th I hope.

We just need to figure out where to hold it! It's going to be small with maybe only 15-20 people but for as small as that is my mom's living room isn't big enough for it! I told my mom we could do it cook out style in the backyard but she hates the heat and humidity and we live in Mass so she said no. Lol.

Trying to save her from having to spend money on a location!!! I know she doesn't have much to spend and no one out of my friends or family has offered to help her with the costs. I would offer but she would refuse as she wants to make sure I save enough money for maternity leave and right now I'm struggling to get enough together
  • Mines July 26th (I have to travel for it too). My SIL had a problem with the printing on the invites so she just got them today. She's already given my family a heads up on the date though.

So I'm clearly not too worried about last minute!
  • I have a local one next weekend with smaller group of girls bc only weekend that worked as two are getting married in August and sept. So I will be 24 weeks for that one. Earlier than I would have liked but they are hosting. Then I have one at home I have to travel for Aug 8 at 29 weeks. Invites went out from my mom last weekend I believe. I have to fly to NY for work so tacking on to that trip as I like to fly as little as possible (flight anxiety). This will be my last flight before baby comes as well.
  • My shower is August 9th and invites went out a few days ago with a requested RSVP date by 7/20.
Additionally, In my option, there is nothing wrong with having some input into your shower!
My mother and best friend are doing most of the planning but they asked me what dates would work best for me, and also asked me for a list of some college friends and co-workers that I would like to invite, they also gave me some suggestions on the food and let me pick some of my favorite dishes!
  • I planned my wedding in 7 weeks, while pregnant. I think 4 weeks is ample time to put together a baby shower. :-)

  • @Mom2b100915 , my shower is august 8th, my Sister and SIL are doing it, they asked me for a date and guest list. I'm getting a little worried that maybe it's too big and such a diverse group of people, including coworkers, my friends, my husbands friends sort of thing, (all women) starting to stress me out. But I figure it's for a short time in the afternoon and it's at a venue, hope everyone just has a good time and I'll be glad when it's over actually!
