We have our full fetal survey this afternoon!! I am the craziest combination of nerves and excitement.
We are hoping to have a little reveal with our families tomorrow for the 4th!
Seriously praying for a perfectly healthy little bundle of joy and of course will be on cloud 9 whether it is a girl or a boy. I'm hoping baby is nice and cooperative so we can see gender well (I'm 18w 4d according to my last U.S. And 18w 2d according to my LMP)

Some people have told me that they have had to do the fetal survey in multiple sessions if baby isn't cooperative. Has anyone had this experience?

  • No experience with it personally, but I just wanted to wish you very good luck!

  • I've heard of it happening. My anatomy scan for DS was completed in one session, but we were there for a while. Good luck!!

I have not had that experience. I had mine yesterday and although the tech had to 'work' my belly a bit to get the baby to cooperate for some profile shots, ultimately she was able to get everything she needed.

My own 2 cents...I'm sure many will not like this but when I first started reading your thread I thought it was yet another post with no question or purpose other than drawing attention to yourself like we have seen a lot of people do lately, but I was wrong! Kudos to you for both expressing your excitement and actually asking fellow bumpers a question to which many people could benefit from the answer. :) I myself am not sure how common that is so it will be interesting to hear what other people's experiences are. Good luck at your appt!
  • It does happen yes. In my last pregnancy, we had to take a short break where the technician asked me to drink a glass or orange juice or eat a bar of chocolate or something sweet to get a burst of sugar in the bloodstream and get the baby moving again. She came back after 15 mins and it worked. I was prepared so had brought a bar with me to eat just in case since I had heard of others that that had happened to.

Good luck. Hope you get an all clear and get to know what you're having!

I know of people that have had to go back multiple times because they couldn't get the right measurement or the right view that was needed for the full scan. DS was always very cooperative so our scans were always short and sweet. This one was cooperative for the NT scan too so it looks like we're on the same path.

GL and FX for a healthy baby!

  • Congrats on a healthy baby boy! So exciting.
  • Congrats on the baby boy and a healthy one at that. ;)
