Feeling pressure(?) on my abdomen.

I don't know if I'm going to explain this well, but I need to know if this is normal. My lower abdomen feels different (which I assume is normal) but it feels like there is some pressure? It's the only way I can describe it! I don't think it's cramping. This is my first pregnancy (I'm 14 weeks 4 days) and had some bleeding last weeks. This morning I woke up with some brown spotting (seems to be slowing already). And some middle pain, but it doesn't seem to last!

Man this is a scary thing, not knowing what's happening inside me!

Re: Feeling pressure(?) on my abdomen.

  • It sounds like round ligament pain but I can't say for sure. I'm only going by my own experience.
As for the brown blood, brown blood indicates old blood.
Just out of curiosity when you feel the pressure in your stomach could it be because you need to pee? I'm asking cause I feel a lot of pressure when I need to go but it's relieved when I do go.
I think if your really worried & need piece of mind go see your OBGYN.

  • Yes when I have to pee, or when I'm sitting or lying in a certain position.

I'm sure it's nothing, but it's scary not knowing what's going on!
  • I created a post similar to this at about 14 weeks, still have it from time to time! I think it's normal :)
  • I get this - I would describe it feeling like I have a wide belt tightly wrapped around my lower abdomen. I particularly feel it when I am walking at a slightly upwards angle or if I am bending down to grab something (trying to remember to bend my knees instead of my back). I assume it's just the size of the uterus that creates some extra pressure down there. I'm not bleeding and haven't been so I am not worried about it.

  • @HBarrie yes! I think that's it! I'm trying hard not to worry about every little thing! I'm not normally like this, but pregnancy has made me crazy!!!
  • I have this feeling, but I can usually chalk it up to constipation or gas. I know that isn't a pleasant thing to attribute it to, but usually if I can relieve those problems the pressure goes away.
  • Ya I'm thinking that might be it! I had some red spotting today as well, but it stopped very quickly! Being pregnant is a scary thing!

I just have to remind myself that last just last week I saw baby moving and grooving and it had a strong heart beat! And the doctor checked my cervix, and I had a ton of tests done and everything was great! It should be great now as well!
  • Indeed, not to worry, you're past the risky phase and the likelihood of something being wrong is tiny. I get all sorts of aches and pains in places I have never had them before, but unless the pain or discomfort reaches super high levels or stays for prolonged periods, I try not to worry.
I'm more worried about what you can't feel lol, like the risk of DS (I got a 1:590 risk) or other birth defects. My mind likes to play tricks on me with things like that.

But try if you can to just relax and enjoy your pregnancy as much as passible :)

  • Thanks ladies! Some times just talking about it helps! My hubby is awesome, but i don't want to have both of us be worry warts when deep inside I'm sure everything is fine!!
