Me: 26, DH: 41
Colin Patrick born on 4/29 via emergency C-section following 41-week induction
What's new with baby (size, development): Beginning to develop vital organs.
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: Organizing our office as it will also become the guest bedroom once we need to move the bed in order to have a nursery!
Rant/rave/symptoms: I'm tired! My lower back, legs, and feet started hurting yesterday. It doesn't help that I worked three ten-hour days. I am looking forward to getting home at a decent time today and laying on the couch!
Questions for the Group:
GTKY: What do yo do to pay those bills bills bills? I am a speech-language pathologist and primarily work with children under three. I do home visits and make my own schedule, which will be very helpful during and after pregnancy.
@KristieA , I feel the same way. I actually welcome any feelings of nausea or breast tenderness or feeling soooo tired, because it's at least helping to assure me that I wasn't imagining that BFP. I don't want to be feeling blue, when this should be a super happy time, but I, too, am worried about losing the baby. Distract, distract, distract! The first trimester is way harder than the 2WW!
@Jiloboe Oh good! I'm not the only one who is looking forward to symptoms so I know I am actually pregnant I am sure in a few weeks we will be like, why did we ever wish for this! I have started a new knitting project as a distraction, a lacy wrap that can be worn as a scarf and then cover me when the LO is nursing. It makes me feel better to do something without spending a lot of money on stuff now before we are safely through the 1st trimester.
I never thought anything would be worse than the the 2WW but you are totally right!
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: We don't want to tell our sons until we've told the grandparents (two more weeks when we're on vacation), because we know they'd blab! But we did talk to them about getting bunk beds and sharing a bedroom! They want to get one today! We told them we would probably wait until the end of the summer.
Rant/rave/symptoms: I'm tired! Breasts are tender, and I have a bit of nausea. DH says, "How can you all of a sudden be so tired right after a positive pregnancy test?" Funny how that works, right? Believe me, I'd much prefer to have boundless energy!!
Questions for the Group: Anybody here going with a midwife or considering a home birth?
GTKY: What do yo do to pay those bills bills bills? I teach one class at a college--luckily it's in the Fall this year! Also teach piano lessons, which I'll be able to do until baby is born. I have a 2.5 hour commute to play in my orchestra, September through May each year, but this coming season, I don't have any concerts to play January through April! I may have to take the May concert set off, but that would be awesome if I could swing it. With my first two, I brought my babies with me to rehearsals and concerts, nursed right before and at breaks, and a local sitter (usually college student or teenage child of a fellow orchestra member) would stay well out of hearing range with them while we played. I'm aware that you can't plan life so tidily all the time though...we will have to see this go-round! I also do Pampered Chef parties (nice flexibility), and I'm considering starting my own Kindermusik business...it was in the plan until this pregnancy...don't know if that would be one thing too many.
Sorry for the long response! Just kind of got away from me! Any fellow musicians that are in a similar situation?
@jilloboe, I was considering a home birth before I learned that there aren't any midwives covered by my insurance in my area I wish we could afford it out of pocket, but no dice. So I guess we'll just use a doula in the hospital like with our first. We are in a different state now, so I hope the hospital is natural birth friendly!
What's new with baby (size, development): same as yesterday
What's something new you are doing to get ready for baby: nothing, I'm heading out of town for a 12 day vacation today so it'll be a nice distraction, I'll be that much closer to my first appt when we get back.
Rant/rave/symptoms: I dry heaved this morning. In the next few days that'll probably ramp up to actual vomiting. As mentioned before, I've had awful morning sickness in all my prior pregnancies (4) and I'm dreading it. I absolutely hate that part of pregnancy!
Questions for the Group:
GTKY: What do yo do to pay those bills bills bills? Until Feb I was a supply chain manager for a toy company. @jilloboe I've done midwives for both of my deliveries and it was amazing - I'm available for any questions. And because of the distance we lived from the hospital I did midwife attended hospital births. I was extremely sad that my previous midwife practice shut down last fall. But I got a good recommendation for a new practice in the area.

Answers to questions I saw...
We tell close friends and family almost right away. If we did lose the baby, I would want their support. I just don't tell anyone I wouldn't want to explain that to.
We will have two under two (barely- DD will be two March 24), plus a three year old.

I lied, I do have a question for the group! And forgive me if this was mentioned/discussed in earlier posts -- I'm still trying to figure this stuff out!
For your ticker, did you enter your LMP or your O date (if you use FF)? Obviously, my ticker would say I'm at 4 weeks if I went by LMP... but I went by my O date, so I'm actually only at 2 weeks. I had to lie to TheBump app and make my due date something later than what FF says, so that it would show me being at 2 weeks.

If you ovulated on the 16th you would be 4w2d. You are already considered two weeks pregnant the day you ovulate.

@navegalejos I'm using my LMP to determine my EDD right now. I was temping and know when I O'ed but figure that my OB will use LMP anyway (I O'ed on CD15). From what I understand, physicians calculate your EDD using your LMP for a reason. It's just the formula that's followed for all women. I'm not concerned since I O'ed at an average time. I'm also prepared/expecting that my EDD may change once I have my first u/s later this month.
ETA: Whoops, I see your Q was already answered. My page did not refresh to show that!

Doctors always go by lmp. So most of us have gone by that rather than O. Most calculators don't have O date.
