Home Remedies for Yeast Infection?

I've had yeast infections periodically throughout my pregnancy. My doctor has given me Diflucan and some topical cream, both of which have helped to ease my symptoms yet they continue to persist. Now she suggests drinking more water, cranberry juice, less sugar, etc. All of which I am doing, but I'm wondering if anyone else dealing with this has any suggestions or advice.

  • If you are having frequent yeast infections try eating yogurt and taking a probiotic supplement daily. Both should help prevent more yeast infections from popping up.

  • Ok I've never done this but I know people that swear by actually rubbing yogurt on your vag. Doesn't sound very pleasant to me but if your desperate maybe give it a try- good luck!

  • don't rub anything on your vagina or vulva that has sugar in it. Sugar causes yeast to multiply

Try eating the yogurt daily while taking your diflucan.  Diflucan works systemically, you must have a very resistant yeast.

  • I've heard of woman inserting a clove of garlic to cure yeast infection. Needless to say, I have never actually tried this method myself. I have always suffered from frequent yeast infections, every 2-3 months I would get one. They get worse when pregnant. Within the last year I have really cleaned up my diet (no processed food, cut out 95% of sugar) and I have, without a doubt, saw a huge improvement. I have only had 1 yeast infection this pregnancy, compared to the 6 I had with my last baby. It's worth a shot, at the very least, you'll be healthier.

I've actually tried this. I've only ever had one yeast infection, I put the garlic in over night, and the next day found out I was pregnant! So never tried it again after finding out. I haven't had any issues with yeast since.. So idk if it was the garlic or what. I also drank TONS of water and completely pure cranberry juice (that I diluted) too. Anyway, best of luck to you!
  • If you feel one coming on try taking a bath with baking soda. I don't measure it out I just pour a healthy dose in. works wonders!
  • Monistat is safe to use during pregnancy along side diflucan. I had to take diflucan Twice when I had one during this pregnancy I was also using the 7 day Monistat over night because it was such a relief for half of the next day. Yogurt didn't really help me before pregnant so I didn't start eating major amounts when I had one pregnant. You are advised against baths when you have yeast infections... I hope yours gives up soon so you can have some relief!!
  • Eat plain yogurt (no sugar added) and/or plain kefir.
  • I do the garlic thing and it works every time for me :) and clean eating!
  • I had a yeast infection at the start of my pregnancy and the only thing that wored for me was Greek yogurt on my vagina eating it and even put a bit up there it isn't very nice but the next day it was gone and never came back I had it for about 3montjs before doing so

I've never had a yeast infection, but I always wear cotton underwear, eat yogurt (plain) with almost every meal, i take probitics, don't do hot tubs and things like that. Maybe that contributes to me never having one.
  • Maybe try cranberry tablets. I've used them for UTI'S and they work great for that.
  • My acupuncturist said Gatlic ha great but it can burn and be really uncomfortable. She recommended steeping garlic in coconut oil with a little tea tree oil. Once that is steeped strain it, then freeze it is ice cube trays and then insert like you would vsginal yeast meds! I also recommend yogurt and probiotics! Good luck
