Anybody else use projects to help pass the time in the waiting game?

What was your project?
How did it turn out?
What did DH think of project?
Picture of the project?

Any suggestions for the next project?

Re: Projects to pass the time!

  • Organized the laundry room.
    Turned out awesome and colorful!
Although I wanted it to be a surprise, he ended up having to help put the shelves together.

Next Project....Our niece's Minion themed birthday party.

I bought two dressers at a garage sale with the intent to sand, paint and refinish them. That was 3 months ago, they're still in my garage.

ETA: DH is not thrilled our garage had been unusable for the past few months. I should probably finish them.
  • @tkarliem45 Sanding is the hard part. My least favorite! I just like the paining part.  :P
  • @JLaVO888, the first one I painted with chalk paint (no sanding) and wasn't thrilled. It just needs a coat of polly to be finished. The second, I got about 3/4 of the way done sanding the top and gave up. And there it sets, sander on top of dresser, in my parking spot.
  • I love projects!

I removed the labels from a bunch of old pasta jars I had been saving and painted the lids with rubbed bronze spray paint. I think they turned out pretty well!

Next up I ordered some fabric online and I am going to make slipcovers for the pillows that came with our couches. I'm also painting a counter in the laundry room with chalkboard paint so I can write instructions for which clothes not to machine dry etc.

  • @MandybeeSLP The jars look great! Chalkboard is a great idea!

My DH is awesome at getting laundry done...all of it the same way (big load, hot water, all in the dryer)!

Got to love him for trying though.
  • @JLaVO888

Exactly. Although my husband won't wash anything on hot. It's Cold/Cold and then all in the dryer! He's really great at helping with all the household chores, but he always asks before he does the laundry. So, I'm hoping it will empower him to do more laundry without being afraid to shrink all my clothes. ;)

  • Gardening! We just ripped out the ugly overgrown shrubs by our front steps and put down mulch, added some pavers as a border and planted some plants and flowers. Looks so much better now!

  • I jump around on projects. I do a bunch of science reading, get into yoga, colour, cross stitch, cook or bake and organize things.
  • Turning a couple of old military field cases into small trunks for a future nursery...I hope it turns out because I'm not the best with spray paint. :))
  • Going to start working on the yard, fixing up the guest bedroom and starting a stockpile of diapers and maybe slowly buying nursery furniture.

Does watching season 3 of OITNB count?

Haha if you're like me, only for the day or two that it takes to finish the WHOLE season!! Then you are just stuck in the OTNB waiting game for the next season!!
  • I actually finally cleared out the "box room" which is where we threw all the boxes we didn't want or need to unpack when we moved into this house. It's been almost 4 months and I just got it cleared completely out so it can hopefully be a baby nursery :)

Next project is going to be re painting the bedside tables in our bedroom and doing some techniques on them that I saw on YouTube and Pinterest :)
