I am a FTM and pre pregnancy I would have really good clear skin , I am now 16w4d and the last few weeks iv had a rash with dry flaky skin on it around my mouth and nose. Any help on how to get rid of this ?
I got the approval from my doctor to use OTC cortisone cream, make sure to ask the doctor, I'd been using it for years and it's not on my "approved" list as it's not something every woman has. I have eczema before I was pregnant and as a little girl, now it's on complete high over drive. I swear my little baby girl is killing my looks, it's ok I love her anyway, my mom calls it payback. Otherwise I've found lotions that are light and for really dry skin work well (fragrance free of course). When mom was pregnant with me she use to have the pharmacist melt menthol into her lotion, but good luck trying to find a pharmacist who would do that nowadays
I've never had eczema but my skin can get really dry in the winter if I'm not careful. I use cetophil (I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right ) cream (NOT lotion-that's too thin). It comes in a big, white , blue, and green jar and is at most drug stores. Fragrance free and pretty cheap.
Yore organics. The yore balm is the best thing I've ever used. They have things perfect for dryness like that. (I use it around my nose and lips). I have 2. One by bed and on in my bag
Same thing here, my dermatologist gave me a hydrocortisone cream, and just upgraded me to something stronger that's safe for pregnancy. My once clear skin has turned into an oily mess. I'm switching to a zinc face wash and a witch hazel toner too. Hope you get some relief soon!
I have it too. You may have what's called perioral dermatitis. It's between eczema and acne. My suggestion of this is what you have is to stop all creams, face washes and makeup on your face. It's really tough but these things make it much worse. After many trials and errors I have found that using coconut oil to wash my face (yes wash) and coconut oil for a moisturizer is the only thing that calms the break outs. It doesn't completely go away, but it's not noticeable without makeup. Good luck my friend!
@egosling87 that's the same thing I was diagnosed with. Started pre pregnancy but has gotten worse. I'm curious about the coconut oil it doesn't make you too oily?
I too have eczema before pregnancy, now it's like full force sadly =/ I get it on the back of my neck (so self conscious about it since I tend to scratch and scratch) and I also have a dry patch on my upper lip. I stopped wearing makeup in the beginning because of the acne. Try a honey/sugar scrub for the dead skin, and then hydrate with lotion. It's best to do this before bed because that's when the new cells start to develop. Space it out throughout the week since the scrub can be kind of rough if you do it every day. But I felt a huge difference in my skin, it was a lot softer
I had something like this happen to my face around my mouth & eyes prepregnancy. Went to the derm & she told me to stop using anything abrasive (exfoliating scrubs, etc, which was really hard to stop b/c I wanted to get rid of the peeling!) & anything drying, (like a face wash with salicylic acid, or anti aging creams with retinol.) She also recommended washing with CeraVe hydrating cleanser (they've since come out with a foaming face wash I've never tried.) I've been using that & their night & daytime lotions ever since. They feel amazing & my skin's been fairly flawless! Good luck & if it doesn't go away, I'd see a derm.
I wash my face with the coconut oil morning and night, wash it off with warm water, and pat with towel to dry. At night I put a layer of it on my face and leave it on like a mask over night. In the morning, I only add a little bit extra to dry areas after washing, so I'm not oily. If there is a bit of shine I will carefully dab with a cotton pad to suck up any extra oil. Most importantly I make sure I don't scrub or do anything harsh to the infected areas.
I've had the same problem since week 5, except not only on my face, my back and the chest area as well. I went to the dermatologist and he said what works best for the dermatitis can't be used while pregnant so I stopped wearing make up and stopped washing my face with soaps or any other solutions but water. As a previous poster said, coconut oil is amazing. I don't wash my face with it but I do dab some on at night until it's absorbed and a little bit in the morning and my skin is much better.
