Need to stop...but can't!

So here's my confession: I have been unable to stop eating junk food today. I feel bad about it, but I just. can't. stop. I ate a healthy enough breakfast, but got to work and someone brought in donuts. Do I had 3! Then, if that wasn't bad enough, I had ice cream this afternoon even though I wasn't hungry. I just wanted ice cream. And now, since I still can't stop eating junk food, I'm totally about to have breakfast for dinner (leaning toward chocolate chip pancakes).

I've been trying hard to eat healthy now that I can keep food down, but I can't seem to stop with the junk today. I feel so guilty :-q

Re: Need to stop...but can't!

  • I think as long as this isn't your normal eating pattern you should be ok. I always make myself eat at least a little protein with every meal and a green veggie at least once a day.
For example, maybe some chicken sausage or turkey bacon with your breakfast-for-dinner and a side of fruit? And if I eat pizza I make sure to wolf down some salad first. I also started using protein-fortified almond milk on my cereal (and WholeFoods has this delicious Protein & Fiber cereal that is SO good..)
I know it's hard coming off of being so sick you can't eat anything to now having cravings! I think you can still indulge as long as you keep the balance :)

  • Have you considered what you are craving or to find substitutes? I know the feeling. I have been trying so hard to avoid things like potato chips and pizza rolls (Thanks for reminding me I have some left @momotheflyinglemur x.x), I have been successful though with some things... Instead of having an entire bag of potato chips to myself I will dole them out into small reusable containers when I'm full so I don't munch, then later I can grab one and when it's finished I usually feel fine. If I don't do this I'll sit there and eat the entire bag! I put a bit less than a serving in there, so I if I want more I can grab another one. I'll also buy those veggie straws, as they are crunchy and not as bad for me, but still have a lightly salted taste that I like, or fruit chips.

Unfortunately I've been eating frozen waffles like they are going to be discontinued and drowning them in syrup, yet to find something to switch to there. Breakfast for dinner has become a normal thing in my household lately.

A good substitute for ice cream that I seem to love is frozen fruit(like bananas with some chocolate or strawberries) blended to get the same texture with much more feel good vibes about it or try Italian ice cream (I get Italian ice pops) as well as making ice cube trays of ice cream. This way, you make yourself get one or two cubes of them and it is more of an inconvenience to get up to get more. Won't always stop you but can help.

Checking pintrest is a good thing to help find different substitutes, but can also make you hungry for things you didn't think you needed so be careful! Haha. No matter what though, don't worry. You may gain some extra weight but don't beat yourself up over that.

The way I see it, there are way worse things we could be doing that could 100% harm baby than giving into our junk food cravings. ;)
  • I have days where I don't want to eat anything and then days like yesterday where I feel like I couldn't stop.

  • I think as long as it isn't a everyday thing it's ok but taking in all that sugar can really bite you in the butt when you have that glucose test. You don't wanna get diabetes and risk giving birth to a baby with diabetes because of all the sugar.

My diet last pregnancy was sugar first, then the yucky healthy stuff. No issues w myself or DS.

Moderation is key. Don't make a habit of eating crap every meal of every day. Stay active, stay hydrated and make sure you get the right nutrients and you should be fine.

  • "today"?

Aw don't worry about that. One day i ate nothing but three crunchwrap supremes from Taco Bell.

It's pretty normal to have those days.

Omg I love crunch wrap supremes!! I get them veggie with beans instead of meat and "fiesta style" which means no sour cream or cheese and pico instead of regular tomatoes. I'm drooling right now! Jeez thanks! I moved to NY next year and there are only like 2 in the city and so far from me!

  • Yesterday I ate 5 guys. Today i ate full dim sum with my inlaws and then a medium popcorn at the movies (Terminator!) and then about 120 grapes at my MIL's house.

    So far.
