I'm 6 weeks and found out yesterday after a sonogram that I have a "large hemorrhagic cyst" on my ovary. The baby looks good, but I'm still scared the cyst could cause problems. Anyone else with the same thing?
Hi!! Yes! I have had this in the past and it was absolutely fine. I was told that it is very common to form a cyst in pregnancy.. A corpuslutheal cyst (pregnancy cyst). They usually resolve themselves.
Yes, me too. My doctor didn't seem concerned, I also did my own research and they seem to go away on their own. I also saw something about possibly having a surgery to remove it if it grows very large, which will not disturb your current pregnancy.
I've got a combination of what you're speaking to. I have PCOS where I constantly have cysts on my ovaries; once in a while they rupture and feel awful. Around 7 weeks, I had a pretty significant bleed with no pain or symptoms. It was a subchorionic hemorrhage. It is mostly resolved and I have only had minor spotting episodes afterward. I wish you the best of luck and calmness during this crazy ride!
Actually, ALL pregnant women have cysts in early pregnancy. It's the only thing churning out the hormones keeping you pregnant until the placenta takes over.
For a few, the cyst gets larger than normal and causes pain. For even fewer, it gets large enough to threaten torsion and requires minor surgery. Most cysts resolve on their own around the time 2nd tri starts.
I have had ovarian cysts for a few years now. When I went to the hospital for a spotting scare I asked the ultrasound sound tech lady who pointed out my cyst she said it's fine and usually goes away after you get pregnant. So nothing to worry about. I'm not worried about mine if it's even still there.
I had my first scan on Tuesday at 8 weeks and I have a cyst on my ovary. The doctor says its normal and in fact it helps produce extra hormones for your baby.
Re: Has anyone else found out they have an ovarian cyst in early pregnancy?
Hope this helps!
