Ectopic or Corpus Luteum Cyst?

I had significant pain on the right side of my abdomen and the Dr called me in right away with concerns of an ectopic pregnancy. The u/s showed a giant cyst on my right side called a corpus lute cyst. I was happy to hear it wasn't the baby stuck over there. She then looked for and found the baby right where it is supposed to be with a healthy heartbeat... and then she found baby #2...

My husband is over the moon and I'm happy as well but kind of panicking. These will be our first babies and I feel like I have no idea what to do with one baby let alone 2! Anyways, has anyone every had this cyst? It's very painful and measuring around 3 cm.

I've had them not during pregnancy and they can get super painful. I was feeling some side pains and asked during my ultrasound and she said no cyst but my intestine was near there and she said it could be gas related... I thought it was wierd that my intestine would be so close to overies. I think after this baby id like them to go in a neatly tuck my inside back where they belong! Lol

Yes.. it's supposed to be good. Because it produces progesterone. It will subside in a few weeks. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thanks ladies for the responses. Do I need to worry about it rupturing? Like will I know if it does and do I need to go the ER?

Normal. I've had them during my last pregnancy and currently have one now. You don't need to go to the ER if it ruptures.

I have one as well on my left side. My doctor said it should go away on its own by 11-12 weeks!

I think I have a cyst as well as I can feel mild to moderate pain/pulsing on my right ovary and I'm scared it could be an ectopic? But I read about the cyst and it maybe sounds more likely.

Call your doctor if you even slightly suspect you have an ectopic pregnancy - it's not something to mess with and you'd be better off safe than sorry.

I have it. It's bigger than its supposed to be. Doctor said to take it easy and it shouldn't rupture. Also said it should disappear during first tri.

I have my first US tomorrow, so not confirmed but I am fairly certain I have a cyst on my left ovary. It's hurting a lot, though not enough to be suspicious of en ectopic. I've had cysts in the past and it's a familiar feeling. They usually rupture on their own and when they do, the pain should subside. Congrats on your twins!

I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured (but I was not pregnant at that time). The pain was so bad that I nearly passed out and thought it was my appendix bursting or some other cause of imminent death! It was bad. I went to the ER but by the time I got there the pain had improved some. They found the cyst on u/s that had healed over, but they could see the free fluid around it where it had ruptured.
They suggested I come back in if I felt the severe pain again because they said they'd double check the internal bleeding had stopped and recheck me for anemia.
