Anyone Tried inducing at home yet?

im 38 weeks and have been researching and decided to take a shot of balsamic vinegar tonight after reading a few successful stories. I'm not so sure about Castor oil just yet. But I've been having steady contractions for a couple weeks now.
Have any of you tried anything so far?

My mom told me about a dinner party a couple of years ago where they served a salad with balsamic vinegar and 2 pregnant ladies went into labor that same week, one of them a little prematurely, so I guess it could work ... It has a lot of herbs.
  • Yes! I've tried fresh pineapple, bouncing on a birthing ball, walking/doing stairs multiple times especially at work, and sex. So far no baby :/
  • I have tried raspberry tea, bouncing ball, sex, I did zumba until 37 weeks, walking, hot bath, and now i'm 39 weeks today and I'm only 1cm dilated and 70 percent effaced. I will try balsamic vinegar.
  • My chiropractor and my doula suggested inserting three Evening Primrose Oil capsules as close to the cervix as possible nightly beginning at 36 weeks to help efface the cervix. The effects are similar to the prostaglandins in semen. Just be sure to sleep with a pad to catch the drainage.

  • Castor oil is a big no no so I have read it can be dangerous to baby so stay away from it x
  • Raspberry leaf tea, pineapple, walking, yoga, sex, more walking. Nothing yet...guess baby girl is quite comfy in there!
  • I've been taking evening primrose oil, drinking raspberry leaf tea, walking, sex, bouncing on the ball, and even hooked up my pump to stimulate the nips and NOTHING! I'm 39+3 today and still not even dilated. 75% effaced for three weeks. I feel very frustrated.
  • I have been doing evening primrose oil capsules, Red Raspberry leave tea capsules, sex, walking, Pineapple juice.  I am honestly starting to think about pulling out the breast pump.
  • Nope and won't. There is no point baby will come when baby is ready.

  • I'm due tomorrow. About 2 week ago, I was 1-2 cm dilated. Yesterday I was 3 cm dilated and I got my membranes stripped. I've been walking a lot this week too...no contractions or anything yet. Really hoping baby is born this weekend!

  • @stparrish I'm in the same boat! Just four days behind you on due date. I had like four anxiety attacks last weekend and now I'm just like whatever! Lol I need to chill.
  • I don't feel like anything we do is going to induce labor. The baby is not ready to come out. Rest your body and mind and enjoy yourself these last few days or weeks you have left!!
  • I have tried primrose, castor oil, sex, walking and I am still only 1cm that I've been for 2mths now! What I've come to realize ladies is...baby will come when they are ready...I have given up lol. Even though I am so miserable and in pain all the time. Hang in there ladies...not long now!!

Even though the goal is for baby to come when they are ready, I know I'm curious about gentle nudges toward labour since my doctor will induce by the end of next week if I don't go into labour naturally by then (I'm 40 weeks)....I think that bit of pressure is why some women want to try a few at home induction options.

Forgot to finish - I've tried the raspberry leaf tea, primrose oil, and lots of exercise ball bouncing!

Hi all. I'm new here. 37 weeks. I'm trying vbac this time and my doctor says that if baby gets too big a vbac will not be possible and if I don't go into labor by week 38.2 it's going to be a c section again, which would be very frustrating.
So I have a week to get this party started. I did try most of the methods mentioned here, but I was wondering if anyone tried taking Fenugreek? It's indicated to increase milk supply when breast feeding but I heard that it also causes contractions (hence not recommended in early pregnancy). Any thoughts on that?
  • Personally I don't believe any method really works so I've just picked a few out without really committing to any- walking, cleaning, birthing ball, sexy time... Had some pineapple tonight but only a tiny amount as it will give me heartburn later (I believe you're meant to eat like 8 pineapples a day which isn't going to happen lol). A good friend recommended nipple stimulation which she used with her first but then she was overdue second time around so even for her didn't work in two pregnancies. I think it's important not to take things too seriously and just relax as much as possible.
  • We can try as much as we want but in the end, Mother Nature is in control and baby comes when baby wants to come. Unless medically induced of course
