Water breaking estimate

My husband and I have placed a bet on when my water will break. Im guessing the week of July 20 and my husband thinks the first week in August. I think our baby is getting very restless and hes in the head down position....hopefully hes getting ready....Come on baby!!!! Anyone else guessing on when their water might break??

    As the previous poster said, most women's water doesn't break until they are well into labor

    Meh, even being a STM I'm sure I'll go to my EDD. I have no estimate whatsoever.

    Don't let your guess get your hopes up. You may end up disappointed. That's why it's always best not to guess when something will happen. I'm not guessing because of that reason. I thought I would have a girl ended up being a boy. So I stopped guessing after that.

    Our families are betting on when I have the baby, not when the water breaks tho. I think it's fun if people want to get involved like that :)

    I estimate my water will be broken by the doctor during my c-section at 39 weeks 6 days...

    I am guessing the dr. will break my water right before I deliver.  That is how it happened with the past 3 babies!

    My water actually broke with my first without doctor intervention. However, I had no clue it was going to happen and didn't expect it at 38 weeks.

    I actually hope my water does not break until I am well into labor. Once water breaks you're on the clock for labor having to start on its own before you have to go to the hospital and have pitocin to get things going. Not my ideal situation, it will be fine if it happens, but preferably not

    My was broken while in labor with my first. I'm not due until the 3rd,so I'm hoping nothing happens before then.

    As a STM I would like my baby to come earlier than my EDD because my DS birthday is 4 days later. I would also like my baby to come early because I have to get on a plane with him/her on Sep. 1 and I much prefer he/she is older than 2 weeks. And by early I mean I'd love to have this baby at 38 weeks, full term but on the earlier side of full term. And I'm 36 weeks...baby is extremely unlikely to flip this late in the game, there's not enough room.

    I've been in both boats: DS1 was born at 42wks and I had no labour or anything at all happen. It sucked. DS2 was born at 39wks and my water broke in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. Spontaneous labour with a sure sign was nice.
    No idea what will happen this time!

    Same here we have to get on a plane. Oct 7th and I'm due August 22nd do 38.5 to 39 weeks would be great but it am sure it will be 41 lol

    My first was 41w 2 days. Doc broke the water when it was time to get baby out.

    I would prefer to have my baby at 39 weeks this time just because she is already measuring a week ahead and my first was over 9lbs.

    @jesicabrennan I understand circumstances and preferences. I just don't get the women that are 37 weeks and do everything to make the baby arrive. I am 35 weeks and the baby went from head down to breech in 1 week. So it is unlikely but not impossible.

    I agree. I'm also on team *40 weeks is full term* though.

    @CaliforniaDream87 Thanks! I was just wondering because as a FTM I am confused. My doctor says 40 weeks is full term. And that a baby born at 37 or soon after is "technically " full term. My OB does not induce or deliver early because a baby's due date doesn't fit in the Mom's schedule. I personally think it's selfish of some women and the baby should cook as long as it needs to. Obviously some medical reasons need early intervention. But what does this FTM know.

    It's funny that in movies and on TV a woman's water suddenly breaks or she suddenly has unbearable contractions out of nowhere... Both of those are really rare in real life! But timing light contractions for hours until they escalate doesn't seem to make good TV. ;-)

    Last time my water broke at the hospital when my OB broke it, and I assume it will be the same this time around. But I still get paranoid every time I leak a little pee. Pregnancy is so glamorous!

    Three kids and I've never had my water break before active labour. With #2 and 3 it broke when I was pushing. I'm hoping it will be similar again this time.
