  If you're wanting to find out the sex, I think it would be better to have them write it down for you to find out later because then you can find out with friends/family instead of in an uncomfortable office.
  
  Also, then you could do a gender reveal party and be surprised with everyone else. We loved getting to find out with friends and family

  It's your call, but I do have a request for you. If you elect to find out the sex of the baby at your appointment, for the love of all that is holy please announce it via the existing Team Blue/Team Pink sticky threads at the top of page 1 (should you decide to share the news with N15).

  If you want it to be a family/friend affair, decide if you want to find out privately with your SO first or to do with the rest.
  If you're not for that kind of thing, decide how you and your SO would like to find out.
  
  A friend of mine had it in an envelope and went to a beach where she and her hubby sat down together and found out, a super private event. I liked that.

  Personally, we had the tech write it down, and then we found out later with the family. It was a lot of fun, but brutal having to wait! So, I would consider if you have the self-control to wait however long it will take. Lol
