Advice??/thoughts??

so during my NST I had some contractions, I'm 5cm and membranes are ready...dr wants to break my water today. I feel like I'm favorable and it will all work but anyone have experience or thoughts on this??? I'm 38 weeks today. I'm supposed to go to labor/delivery in a few hours.

I would personally get my stuff and head right in...sign me up get this baby out lol.

You need to decided on what you're comfortable with. If it's something your doctor recommended you can always ask him why, it might help you make a choice.

I'd go for it. Relax your mind, focus on your goal of having your baby. Ask as many questions as possible.

I live 45 minutes from the hospital in delivering at so I think dr is concerned it's going to happen in the next 24 hrs and if I'm at home I may not make the drive. I almost didn't make it with my son...he was a super quick labor.

I would not let them break my waters but that's just me. Once your water is broken you are on the clock and they are going to expect you to deliver within 24 hours. Breaking your waters also increases risk of infection. If my water hasn't broken when I go into labor, I will only allow them to be broken when I am almost ready to push

Thanks all! I would prefer to not have my water broke but on the other side I don't feel contractions until it's really close. I don't want to end up delivering on the side of the road.

I didn't feel any contractions with DS1 until my OB broke my water. She also mentioned my bag was so dense that she didn't think it would ever break on its own. I was also 5cm and 100% effaced at that time.

Definitely! I ended up with a c/s but only due to torticollis in my son. No infections, I wasn't pressured for time, only labored for 8 hours before I started pushing. I would take that experience all over again in a heartbeat!
