Depression. :(

I'm a FTM, 38 weeks exactly, and I haven't had the best pregnancy. All I want is for her to be out of my belly and in my arms. I'm not dilated and she hasn't "dropped". I have been walking 3 miles a day, having sex, and taking EPO. I'm also not working or have anything to do during the day but sit here and think about her coming. I know 14 days isn't long but it seems like forever at this point! What do I do?

Re: Depression. :(

  • Wait. You still have 2 weeks. We all want our babies out, but they will come when they are ready. If there is no medically nessecary reason for your LO to come you're going to have to be patient. Also if you want to try natural ways of induction there are 2 or 3 other posts this week that talk about it.

  • Hang in there, mama. Sending love.
  • Unless there's other things going on that you haven't mentioned doesn't sound like depression. In anticipation focus on the result. Use these last days (they'll go quickly) to do things you enjoy. And sleep!

When I say I haven't had the best pregnancy i mean I was diagnosed with hyperemesis at 5 weeks. Including 2 or more fluid bags a day and a PICC line in my arm for constant zofran and have lost 30lbs since then. Also can't sleep for more than an hour because of how painful my tummy feels. :(

    Sad to hear this

Definitely tell your doctor about your mental and emotional state! Especially because women who are depressed during pregnancy have a greater chance of having postpartum depression

  • I agree with @ecloho.  So sorry to hear that you are feeling this way.  Sending thoughts your way.

If I were you, I would try to keep as busy as possible.  I've been off of work for two weeks now, and while I thought I would relish the time, being home alone is driving me insane!  All I have to do is wait and fret about delivery day.
Some things I've found helpful:  reading novels (not the internet), adult coloring books, writing letters, sewing, light cleaning, cooking/baking freezer meals, listening to podcasts.
  • Hang in there, we are made tough and filled with emotion. :P keep your head up and keep thinking about your baby.
