I just went to my Dr and got the slip to go so I might try to go next week. It doesn't bother me though. I had no problem drinking a small orange drink with my daughter so not really concerned about that.
I did mine yesterday! I didn't mind the flavor, there was just so. much. of. it. I wasn't expecting to guzzle a 10 oz bottle of the stuff. I heard you can get a sugar crash after but I felt fine. I made an appt at the lab instead of taking a number and I looooved walking past all the people waiting. yeah, got my shit together. Found out I passed the test! no diabetes or anemia (I guess they checked for that too while they were all up in my blood) woohoo
DONE, it wasn't that bad! Felt fine throughout until the end, I was getting a little loopy! Definitely not one of the fun things about being pregnant though!
Double check with your doctor. I was told there is no need to fast beforehand....that studies have shown it doesn't make a difference. But I have an hour drive and I will eat before I leave, so there will be an our in between. My doctor told me to avoid eating sugar and carbs beforehand. So I was planning to eat eggs for breakfast.
I didn't fast before the 1 hour test..in fact I ate lunch and breakfast and also had a mocha drink at lunch. I didn't eat anything 3 hours before the test. I didn't pass and had to take the 3 hour, which I passed.
i "failed" the one hour test... even though i didn't! i scored a 136 which the lab tests as normal but my doc uses 130 as a cut-off. now i have to go for the 3 hour. grr. i guess i would like to definitively rule out GD so it's worth it, but still annoying.
How long did it take you all to get results? I got my bottle of orange stuff to drink before my next appointment in a couple of weeks.
I got my results the same day, about 10 hours later? I have kaiser and they sent me an email about my blood test first, then my doc sent a message with actual analysis. I didn't get the orange stuff in advance, I showed up to the lab and they gave me a bottle and watched me drink it, then I came back in an hour and they took my blood.
I had the fruit punch and it was soooo hard for me to hold it down for an hour. The sugar was just way too much for me first thing in the morning on an empty stomach but I held it down. Hopefully I passed cause I really don't want to do the 3 hour!
You are definitely not supposed to fast for the one hour. The three hour test requires you to fast, nothing after midnight. Waiting on my three hour results.
I was told to fast during the test but not before. During the test I could only drink water and even then "only in little sips." My doc def told me to eat before, but not a "heavy meal."
There is so much conflicting information about fasting vs. not fasting for the 1 hour. My doctor told me to do what I normally do eating wise before the test. My test was early this AM and I don't normally eat breakfast first thing in the morning so I just didn't. My nurse was mad at me and told me I was supposed to eat before the test. And I'm like well noone told me that! I won't have my results until my next appointment in 3 weeks.
Had mine today. I wasn't told that I was supposed to fast and then I got there and my nurse said something about fasting from midnight before until the test. Well it was too late for that. Anyways just told the lab I did and took the test. Should find out if I passed tomorrow
My office says eat one slice of toast with pb before. I had mine at like 10 weeks because my dad has diabetes and will have another soon. It was hard while having morning sickness. Hopefully better this time
