So annoyed with this, my BP has been a little high since 16 weeks and hasn't budged. Starting at 32 weeks I have to go to the doctors twice a week! They are concerned about me developing preeclampsia and so am I. No sign of protein in my pee as of yet but she is talking about inducing me at 37 weeks. I'm really disappointed. On top of waiting on my glucose results. I feel like I went from low risk to high risk over night. Any one have same situation or have been through this?
I was with my first! (He is 6 yrs old now) right at about 32-33 weeks, my blood pressure & blood sugars went up - was induced at 36.3 weeks ... Was a little scary but everything worked out fine. He was born 7 lbs 8 ounces
My BP went from 125/82ish to 150/100 at the end ... I was on BP pills from week 33 until after he was born and it didn't take long for it to get back to normal. (About 3-4 weeks).
So far mine have been ok but I worry they will soon rise!
@karend2014 wow, now why do they induce so early? Because of low fluid? I've tried to research why and haven't come up with much. What's the risk here? I know the blood flow is an issue but what else? My BP wad 140/ 100 yesterday...
My blood pressure creeped up toward the end of my pregnancy with #1. I was put on blood pressure meds and induced at 38 weeks. If they can control your blood pressure with meds and you don't have any signs of Pre E then they should be able to wait until 38 weeks+ to induce. At least that was my experience. Good luck!
They didn't say anything about preeclampsia - didn't actually have it - but I guess between the baby being big enough & high BP they felt it was necessary. They said high BP raises risk of stroke & heart attack so they don't mess around.
@adtaylor2015 oh I so hope that I I can make it to 38 weeks at least. He is measuring big as of now, so 38 or 39 doesn't sound so bad. I have to get ultrasounds like every 2weeks, BP check and something called NST done every single week till I deliver. I was wanting to try for a natural birth so this is all very disappointing but I'm okay as long as my son is safe and healthy.
I believe that The current recommendation from ACOG is to induce at 37 weeks for gestational hypertension. That's probably why it was mentioned. Elevated blood pressures put you at risk for preeclampsia, seizures, growth restriction of the baby, and placental abruption so they watch you very closely.

Have they mentioned starting meds? There are a few BP meds that are safe during pregnancy.
I wanted to forgo the epidural but my doctor highly recommended I get one because of the lowering effect it has on BP. I was able to deliver vaginally. I was afraid because of the circumstances they would recommend a C section but it was never mentioned.
Have you gotten an at home BP monitor? My BP is always slightly elevated at my apts so I bought my own monitor and take it 2x/day at home and it's always normal. I just send in my results regularly to my Dr. Might be worth it to have your own so you can monitor it more closely. I'm glad I got it bc they were talking about inducing me early but since I've been tracking at home and it stays normal I likely won't have to be induced
I have both this pregnancy. I've been keeping both as under control as much as possible so right now I'm at being induced around 39 weeks. My doctor said I could maybe go to 40 of it stays in check it maybe earlier than 39 if not. Being high risk is stressful, but make sure you voice your wishes to your doctor so you can make a plan. My doctor was actually surprised I didn't want to be induced early (it's been a rough pregnancy) and were monitoring everything to try and get me as close to 40weeks and a natural labor as possible.
@baker1jm2 that's funny you mention that. I told her that I felt pretty anxious every time I'm in there. The parking is always a pain and I feel flustered, it's always so hot in the office. But she said that being hot wouldn't make the difference. I feel like my BP is fine when I'm home for sure! I will mention it at my next appointment and see what she says because I feel so much more calm at home. But I can imagine that her saying something like it would be a liability if they left me in charge of tracking that. I don't know...just frustrating.
