Hey everyone! I have heard that it is a great idea to play music for the baby while pregnant. I am a FTM and am wondering if any of you have also heard this and what your thoughts are? I hope everyone is feeling great and having a great Monday
I've heard people talk about this but I'm not sure that there is scientific evidence to back up any benefits. DH is a musician so there is always music in our house and he has started to learn lullabies which he plays "to the baby" which really means that he sits next to me and plays the song. Not doing headphones against the belly or anything like that though.
I played music all the time when I was pregnant with my daughter - everything from classical to reggae to rap. I've just started doing it again for this baby - and I can that I went to DMB concert this weekend, and baby was jamming out - hardest kicks I've felt yet!
We already have an old ipod and dock set up in the nursery. I love to go in there and turn anything on and sit in the rocker and relax. Like other posters, not sure of benefits for baby on this but I sure enjoy it :-)
Baby girl likes Taylor Swift already!!! Out of Style came on the radio and naturally I turned it up so I could jam out!!! ..... She went crazy! She either loves T Swift or hates her hahaha I can't tell yet!
I really want to get the BellyBuds! They're like headphones for the belly! I think it's pretty neat. FTM so I don't know much about how effective it can be, but I think it's a great idea to play music for baby.
Thanks for the responses ladies We just bought the belly buds and plan on using them nightly. I haven't heard too much about them but hubby thought we should try them.
My husband had his Pandora on the other night while we were laying in bed and an Nsync song came on and baby went crazy. I got to see my belly move for the first time that night because baby was kicking so hard and frequently.
We do classical music to go to sleep and since started doing it I sleep better and am generally not tired or as achey when waking up same goes for ds1 ! We all seem to be in better moods too! It might be all mental but I'd recommend it ...we set the music very low btw
A couple weeks ago I had a day where baby would kick every time I stopped talking. I am glad it likes my voice but was starting to be painful and I couldn't talk all night long. So we put headphones on my tummy with some quiet classical music. We tried instrumental and then some with female vocals. Occasionally when the music would reach a slightly louder part of the song it would get startled and jump. Very funny for us, but we tried to avoid any we knew had big crescendos after that. Out of the two the vocals seemed to soothe a little better. This is all just my interpretation though. We haven't really done it since, but it was very fun to get to actually interact with our baby a little.
gabrielafrnqyepez suggested and see how that goes. Don't get me wrong I love when baby moves but sometimes it keeps me up at night.
I just press my iPhone to my belly sometimes and let the music play for him. He always moves more. Last night we went to the U2 show and he was going crazy!
I am a musician and just graduated with a BA in Music. There have been lengthy studies that have proved that playing classical music for your baby while in the womb will help them significantly when breastfeeding and cognitive development throughout the child's growth! I have been using my Bowes headphones religiously and putting the earphones on my belly while playing classical music off of YouRube for about 2 months!
I am also a belly buds user! just as a few other do, an hour every night. Put a play list together and shuffle oldies and classical. We love hard rock and metal but that will happen well after the womb lol Always makes him move around like crazy! It was a great purchase for us.
