Ladies, I know you have ALL heard some crazy comments and questions during your pregnancy so far. For some reason, people use your announcement and growing belly as an invitation to say some pretty messed up things. I hear at least 3 a day. Please share some with me so we can commiserate!
Here are some of my favorites:
"It wasn't planned was it?"
"Are your boobs pregnant with twins?"
"Oh my god, you look SO pregnant today" (said when I wasn't even showing yet...ouch)
"Let me tell you about my heinous birth experience," proceeded by detailing her 48 hour birth where she nearly bleed to death.
"Wow, you don't care about a pregnancy diet at all so you?"
Re: Crazy pregnancy comments!
Two days before my BFP: "oh, you're really trying to get pregnant? Why?"
The day of my BFP: "you should keep that to yourself. A lot can still go wrong over the next few weeks. I wouldn't tell anyone else".
Multiple times from 4-10 weeks: "it's not too late to decide you only want one child".
And last week after announcing it's a girl and her name: "is that name set in stone? I thought you and DH were joking about that name".
Her: "Let me tell you now girl - you will have a caesarean, you won't have a f*!?ing choice. Every single dancer I know has to have one so don't be planning anything else."
Me: "well... Erm... actually that's not been the case in my peer group-"
"I'm telling you now you will have one, especially if you're feet are less than a size 6. You'll be out for 8 weeks at least."
Nice.
Last week he asked me "to talk" and said "Did you know some men find pregnancy really sexy? I mean you might find this surprising but I find it kind of sexy. I find YOU kind of sexy"
And i was like "Nahhhh.... you don't say..." It's flattering and i appreciate it because nobody feels totally confident when their body is changing rapidly. But it's... wow.
The other is my hairdresser insisting that my craving for fruit heralded a boy. I don't buy into that stuff but I'm kind of hoping she's right.
