FTM to be and scared from MC stories :(

I keep coming across all these heartbreaking stories about women who MC later on in their pregnancy then I am at now (8 weeks 2 D) and I'm starting to get really scared. Are the chances of MC higher these days? I'm 30 and pretty healthy.....the most I've had was some cramping here and there and my US showed babies heartbeat and it all looked good. Am I being overly paranoid?

  • Thank you so much for the comforting words! This is a scary time for me so I'm a little more nervous than usual!
  • MrsJg3 is that chart showing that I'm 97% less likely to MC? That would be an incredible relief!

Yes sorry I can't get the actual chart to copy just the words/numbers.

  • I'm in the same boat! Two days behind you at 27 years old and find myself worrying about it frequently. Those percentages are reassuring though... Where are they from MrsJg3?

It's a scary time for all of us until we have these babies in our arms.

Enjoy your pregnancy and try not to worry unless you have reason to.

And know that reading about others' MCs will not make you more likely to miscarry. The women going through losses need a supportive place to talk it through. I know you didn't say anything about these posts but I just wanted to put that out there.

  • My heart breaks for the women sharing their MC stories, I'm glad there is a place like this for them to be able to open up and talk about. My sister had her second MC just a few weeks before I found out I was pregnant so all I keep thinking is its a matter of time before something bad happens. I know I need to be more optimistic!!

I've had a MC too (first pregnancy fall of 2014) so I understand the fears. My first U.S. is 7/20 at 8+4. To help stay positive and pass the days I made this chart. It may be cheesy but I really look forward to crossing off another week each Thursday.

  • It is hard not to worry, but my husband always tells me that worrying isn't going to change anything. I am focusing on enjoying this pregnancy while it is here! :) I did have a miscarriage in April so I thought that I would be more worried this time around, but I am actually much calmer and more excited than I thought. Keep Calm and Enjoy your Pregnancy! :x
  • Miscarriage risks are actually higher the older you are as well. Our eggs have a higher chance of chromosomal abnormalities as we age.
I've had multiple mc's. Yes it's hard not to worry, but really there's nothing you can do. If the baby is chromosomally abnormal, it doesn't matter how much you rest, how well hydrated you are, if you eat brussel sprouts or Twinkies and Cinnabons. Somehow that is comforting to me- that there's nothing you can do. If a mc happens, it's not your fault. Prayers for peace and taking things one day at a time.

  • I think knowing that it's out of your hands is both comforting and scary... I worry about it a lot too and my dude thinks I'm silly. I think worry just comes with the territory, I'm on a trip with my mom now and at 34 she is still worrying about me no matter what I do (like crossing the street!), so I guess this is the start of a lifetime of concern and anxiety ;)
