if any of you chose to get a 3D ultrasound, what made you wanna do it? I did want to, but decided I don't want to know what he looks like until I meet him. Also, feel free to share the ultrasound pics! I love looking at all your little babies(:
We had 3 ultrasounds outside of our anatomy scan. We did it more for peace of mind in the beginning. This picture is from 26 weeks. The session was a mother's day gift from my husband. Her face should be a lot chubbier now!!!
Our doctors office (high risk mfm) just has the capability of turning on the 3d anytime they are doing an ultrasound. They are pretty cool about doing it just to give us a look (we do ultrasounds every visit now).
We just had a 3d scan this past Friday at 30 weeks! It was by the far one of the coolest parts of this pregnancy! We did it for no real reason aside from being first time parents who are crawling out of their skin to meet their little guy. We have a stubborn little boy who likes to keep his hands and feet in front of his face.. managed to still get a few good pictures of him though! If you have the time and the resources, I'd definitely do it.
Here are a couple. First at 28 weeks is the clearest shot we have got. Second is last week before our nst at 33 weeks. She wasn't very happy last week!

Oh my goodness is that a little smile?! All of your babies are just precious!! I am going back and forth about doing it or not
We didn't pay to have one done, but the last couple of ultrasound the tech has turned it on for us and printed pictures. it was so exciting to see what she looks like!
We actually won a free one from our OB! They giveaway one per month:) .. Otherwise we were also on the fence about paying for one since I'm high-risk, they usually turn on the 3D/4D on all u/s, even if it's just for a minute!
I did not have a 3D u/s with DD. With this little guy, my u/s tech can switch to 3D when I go in for any u/s. She has tried at every u/s (I have had one a month due to high risk) and we are yet to get a decent picture. I am glad I didn't spend the money. I can honestly wait until August to see what he looks like.
I was just curious to see what the u/s looked like compared to her when she is here. I planned on paying for one but today at my specialists office, the tech turned on the 3d/4d and gave me a picture.
I went to my OB last weeks for my 34 weeks growth US and the tech did a few 3d photos for us. He had his arm over his face most of the time and was trying to sleep. Cute and smooshy though!
We were going to wait and be surprised, but I've been having a difficult third trimester, so we decided to surprise my family with a 3d ultrasound on Fathers Day to have a happy bonding experience to look forward to. It was fabulous. My parents, brothers and grandma were so excited, and our little guy even stuck his tongue out at us! Now whenever I'm exhausted or really uncomfortable, I look at his little face and remember it's all worth it.
I did them w our first two and loved it! I brought the 3D with me into delivery and it was good motivation. This time we aren't doing it because I'm afraid the tech will slip and we will see if it's a boy or girl. To be honest I'm a little sad but I'd be more sad if they blew it! I thought about doing it and having them stick the pics in an envelope. Then we could compare all three kids later but I don't know if I could hold onto an envelope like that without opening it!

We did one for our anniversary because we thought it would be something fun to do and it was amazing. Ours was 3D with HD live (something about showing skin elasticity... I don't know much about it). Here are some pictures from 29 weeks. We actually also got a video and could see him moving his little thumb into his mouth.
We waited a little too long to do ours (was 32 weeks). My doctors office says after about 30 weeks they start getting squished in the womb and it's harder to get good pictures. We tried anyway and baby girl would NOT cooperate! She would have her hand over her face or she'd turn her head away, so the pictures didn't turn out very well. The office only charged us half price for that. A few days before I had had an ultrasound at my specialists office and they managed to get a good shot of her face. It's not 3D but it's still pretty good. When it was over and the tech helped me sit up, she immediately said "it's your nose she's got!" Lol
We went to the dr's ultrasound clinic for a growth ultrasound today. After they did all the measurements the tech turned on the 3d/4d to get us some cute pictures I was so happily surprised. I'm 35 weeks and she was head down, and we got some great shots still. She's starting to get the chub on!
They kind of creep me out. They turned it on briefly at 26 weeks for my generic testing ultrasound, he wasn't very developed yet. So it was a little weird...I'm good with waiting, but doc said she may need another look soon, because I'm old... At 37.. and they tend to do an extra for old people.
I went to a place that does it. We got pictures, videos, and the whole experience was amazing. Not only did I see my little baby's face, but I saw her smiling (which made me teary eyed), move her little hands and feet, HUG her placenta and scratch her eyes and suck her thumb. I went a few times but the last time her face got so unbelievably chubby and adorable . I loved it and would do it again
We did it because my doc doesn't do any ultrasounds past the anatomy scan if you're low risk and we wanted to see her. It was very reasonably priced. She was head down but we for a few decent shots. Also she kept holding one of her feet like an comfort object!
We didn't get them done because I find them totally creepy but more power to everyone else. I am glad the majority of PP got theirs done at a Doctor's office and not a company that has "specialists" taking these kinds of pics, I've heard most are unlicensed which isn't very reassuring to me.

Ours has her hands at her face a s her feet above her head at the end of our ultrasound. It was so sweet!
I did not do one for a few reasons. 1) I want to be surprised with baby. 2). The licensing issue of the person scanning sand 3) there are studies being done that 3d and 4d US may cause blindness to baby because of the light. It is still being researched but I did not want the risk.
Re: 3D ultrasounds
Her face should be a lot chubbier now!!!
No real "meaningful" reason I guess.
However I have weekly ultrasounds at the doctor for medical reasons and they always put it in 3d... It is actually kinda cool.
