Just Looked at Calendar & Realized I'm Still Working!

I never set a specific leave time with my employers and just figured I'd take it day by day. After looking at my calendar this morning, I thought to myself "wtf am I still doing at work?" I have just three weeks and a few days until my due date and it just hit me that I should be at home kicking my feet up and cleaning while I still can. Anyone else feel this way? Anyone work all the way up until their due date? Anyone already start their leave? (I'm 36w3d.) Just curious what all you ladies are doing lately!

  • I'm working up until I go into labor or the Friday before my due date. I'm due the 27th so my last day will be Friday the 24th unless I have her sooner. I wish I could take off beforehand.

  • I only work weekends at an emergency clinic. Next weekend is my last. My boss begged me to stay in until after the holiday because all holidays are crazy busy!
  • I'm working too! It sucks, but I don't want to waste my maternity leave.

I don't want to waste mine either! I'm pretty sure my employers are completely flexible about how long I want to take but at the same time each day I work the money is helpful. I feel like it's been a hellish few weeks already though and I can only anticipate the next few getting harder! I know some women handle pregnancy better than others and I think I'm just one of those that's not handling it well; at least not this last final stretch! Anyone else just been miserable? (Not trying to be negative, I do keep trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel!) and cheers to you mommas that handle it with so much grace!
  • My due date is tomorrow and I'm still working. I sit at a desk all day and I'd rather sit at work than sit at home an use up my time off.

If LO doesn't make an appearance soon my last day will be this Thursday. We have Friday off for July 4th and the doctors said they'd induce in my 41st week which is 7/7 so I didn't feel like coming back for maybe one day

I'm still working full time 9-6 (although it's really 8-7). I am 38+3 and I will be working until I go into labor. I had a weeks vacation last week and today is my first day back. I am quickly realizing how much I would rather be home relaxing. It's so hard to focus when your feet look like baked potatoes and your hands are twice their normal size with swelling. Hopefully baby decides to come early, and by early I mean like yesterday.

My due date is the 12th. My last day of work will be the 4th unless she decides to come sooner. I am taking at least a year off to be a SAHM, so I want to make as much money as I can before baby comes so we can put it all in savings. But, mentally, I don't want to work!

I am due on Thursday and still working (right now actually lol, so you can tell how hard I'm workin;)). I have an office job as well and sit on my butt all day so its better to be here and semi busy then at home anxiously waiting. Plus more time with LO, if I work up to my due date!

Also, if she comes later then my due date (likely) I'll still be working up to the day I go into labor :)
  • My due date is the 9th and this Sat, the 4th is my last day. I'm still working full-time on my feet all day. Was going to leave a week before my due date and just work until the 2nd but my boss asked me to stay a few more days since we are shorthanded
  • I'm planning on working right up to delivery.  But I have the option to work from home if I get too uncomfortable at the office.  Figure I would rather get as much stuff done as I can before I vanish for 3 months on leave!
  • I'm 37+2, working until baby comes... Have to save my paid leave as much as I can. Although I have no motivation to be there. It sucks.

  • My due date is the 22nd but doc will induce me if she doesn't come by the 15th due to GD. I'm still working to save every day I can for after she comes (taking 12 weeks after). I have an office job and as PP said I'd rather be here semi-busy than home and just waiting - although these days, a few extra naps sound great! :)
  • I'm 35+6, still at work but on modified duty, which I am grateful for. Due 7/28 and will try to go for as long as I can so I can save my sick leave and save more $... Which means I can stay home with the baby longer.

Yes, I feel that way, but want to save my maternity leave for when my baby is here. I'll be working until I give birth.
  • I'm still working but I have fmla, and take off on appointment dates. Which is twice a week every week.. I also get 13 weeks paid leave which is amazing!!! But honestly I'm asking on Thursday if she can put me out on the 7th.. I'm due the 26th but I'm ready to just be home, relax and get ready. Plus my place of work and job are both on opposite ends so it's gonna start getting hectic.

That's so great that you get that! If I had that for sure, I'd no doubt be home now!
  • Yup, still working 12 hour shifts on my feet in Busy level one trauma center ER... I'm 37.5 and hoping this baby comes soon!!!

    oh my gosh!
  • Work work work!  I'm working until I go into labor, but starting to work full time from home about a week and a half before my due date (next monday... I'm 37w5d today).

  • Today is my first day of leave. I'm due July 22nd. California allows 4 weeks of disability prior to giving birth so I'm taking advantage of it.

I am also due the 27th and this is my plan as well.
  • I'm due the 8th, working up until I go into labor. I don't see a reason not to.
  • My last day tomorrow, I'll be 39+1. I figured the longer I work the longer I get with baby!
I'm not going to lie, I can't wait for tomorrow to be over, but then I'll be at home with my 18 month old all day, and that's hard work! Xx
  • I am due July 26th but doctor is scheduling me in for c-section for the 18th as baby is breech. My last scheduled day is the 10th but will be on call until I go in to have baby girl. Hopefully they won't need me too much as its a customer service job and I'm on my feet the whole 10 hour shift. So would be nice to have 1 week off to relax and try to get some rest.
  • I'm due July 28. And currently I'm 3 hours away from home chaperoning a high school retreat. The only bad part is the twin bunk beds that are hard as a rock. I plan on working summer school until I go into labor. Then I'm off until end of September.

Sounds like me. I am also an ER nurse. I am 36 weeks and still working full time, and plan to up until I go into labor
  • Just as I did with DD, I will work as long as possible. The last few weeks of pregnancy take forever as is, sitting at home waiting for baby to get here sounds absolutely miserable!

  • I'm due on Friday, and my last day is Friday.
  • Y'all are troopers! I planned to work until 38 weeks, but started getting bad contractions at 36w. Plus, mentally I couldn't help others any longer when my mind was on this LO, my irritability grew, and I just couldn't do it anymore. So at home I sit, and nest aka clean stuff that never even crossed my mind before (like the stove knobs).
  • My OB said he'd approve leave any time after 36 weeks. I'm a nurse and I'm just over the swelling legs and total exhaustion after my 12 hour shifts. I'm starting leave at 38 1/2 weeks. 2 and a half weeks to go!
