Supper Sunday! Weekly Meal Plan.

Hey ladies!

I want to get back into a routine of meal planning for the week, and we had a good response from a What's for Dinner thread awhile ago. I thought it might be helpful to some to share dinner ideas and plans for the week. It's easy to get stuck in a rut of the same thing week after week.

What I do (when I'm in a good routine for it, which hasn't been for awhile) is to sit down with our Google calendar and look at the coming week - are there any events/evening plans/holidays coming up that will affect us? Which nights does my husband work? Do I have to stay late at work for anything? I put those on our dry erase board, then I fill in with meal ideas. I always leave at least two days open for leftovers/salads, which are basically our "raid the pantry/fridge because we don't want to cook" days.

Here's my plan for the week. Please post yours, even if it's just for a few days. Meal ideas are always good to have! I'm starting with tonight, but feel free to start whichever day you want.

Sunday: Shakespeare in the Park night - picnic foods. Pasta salad, veggies & hummus, cheese, grapes.
Monday: Stuffed peppers.
Tuesday: Leftovers/Salads
Wednesday: Farmer's Market day! Roasted vegetables with quinoa.
Thursday: Crockpot vegetable soup.
Friday: Cheese tortellini (from freezer) OR leftovers/salads.
Saturday: 4th of July - out with friends.

We used to live in a town that did Shakespeare in the Park evenings. I didn't know it was a big thing. How funny!

    Sunday: Leftovers

Monday: BBQ wings with honeyBBQ sauce with roasted veggies on the grill

Tuesday: Tortellini and Sausage one pot dish with salad

Wednesday: Steak Kabobs with homemade rice pilaf and roasted corn.

Thursday: BLTs with avocado.... Mmmm! And a side of fruit salad.

Friday: Homemade pizza on the grill with some sort of side dish.

Saturday: Homemade Ravolis with another side of some sort.

  • Yaay!

Monday: Mexican (haven't figured out what I want to make just yet, but leaning towards taco salad)

Wednesday: Strawberry, spinach, and grilled chicken salad with rice pilaf

Thursday: I have rehearsal this night, so if no leftovers, then it's a homemade pizza night

Friday: Chinese fried noodles, Asian salad

    Saturday: Cookout for July 4th

    Sunday: Stuffed shells, salad

  • @ChariZae for Wednesday... Add Brianna's poppyseed salad dressing and you have the BEST salad ever!!

Monday: leftover spinach ravioli with meat sauce & homemade parmesean bread sticks

Tuesday: marinated chicken on the grill with Jasmin rice and veggies

Wednesday: Mexican! Either tacos, burritos, homemade guacamole, sometimes I make egg white burritos so I can feel a little healthier ;)

Thursday: bbq pulled pork (or chicken) in the crock pot with veggies from the freezer (easy Thursday!)

Friday: probably grill again, burgers- turkey dogs, chicken burgers... We go wild with our grill!! And "On the Border" brand salsa is hands down my favorite salsa it's nice and thin like the kind you get from
Chilis! I usually have it at least 3 times a week!
  • @Leabyrd I LOVE that dressing!!! I haven't had it in a while, but now you have me craving it. Will definitely pick some up.

Also, do you have a recipe for your pulled pork/chicken? I need to use my crock pot a lot more.
  • It's just the two of us, but we are eating at home and planning meals a lot more in an effort to a) get used to it and b) save some cash. I love planning!

Sun: roast chicken and kale salad

Mon: seared skirt steak and grapefruit slaw

    Tues: green gazpacho

Weds: rice noodle salad with tofu

    Thurs: tofu stirfry

Fri: moving day! (Let's be honest, probably pizza)

Sat: grilling with friends or tacos

  • Our meals this week are a little more boring than usual but it is an average of 103 degrees here and cooking is the worst right now.

Sunday: Leftovers (DH had chinese chicken lettuce wraps, I had chicken kebabs)

    Monday: Lasagna

Tuesday: Green salad with grilled chicken, avocado, and goat cheese

    Wednesday: Tostadas

Thursday: Breakfast for dinner (egg, bacon, and cheese biscuits)

    Friday: Thin crust margherita pizza

    Saturday: Tuna Melts

  • These are great ideas! And @McRad, I am jealous of your homemade ravioli! I wish I were that ambitious :)
  • @ChariZae it's SO easy haha I just put about a pound and a half of chicken breast inside with some bbq sauce (sweet baby rays usually) and that's it! Sometimes I'll add honey or hot sauce if we want sweeter or spicy some people add onions and flavor but I usually keep it on while I'm at work so it sits for about 8-10 hours on low and the bbq sauce is enough IMO!
  • Our menu for the week:

    Monday-Salmon Burgers and crab cakes
    Tuesday-Spaghetti and Meatballs
    Wednesday-Buffalo chicken salad
    Thursday-leftovers
Friday-well there's usually one night where we don't feel like cooking and end up cooking a party pizza and mac n cheese
    Saturday-out for the 4th
    Sunday-stuffed peppers

And as always this is subject to change!

  • Love this!  Since this is a short work week/we're going away the weekend, I placed an order with Blue Apron.  If you don't know what Blue Apron is, it is basically a service where you pick from a menu of meals and they send you all the ingredients plus the recipe!  I have to say the servings are on the smaller size - especially since my husband is a power lifter and needs to eat huge meals all day long but I like the convenience.

Monday - Blue Apron meal: fried chicken with biscuits and kale salad
Tuesday - Blue Apron meal: cheeseburgers with a watermelon, arugula, feta salad
Wednesday - out to dinner with a friend
Thursday - Blue Apron meal: black bean and quinoa enchiladas
Friday - away for the weekend!  I'm thinking of preparing BBQ chicken in the crock!  Sounds yummo!
Saturday - cookout with family: steamed crabs, lamb chops, and a while mess of other stuff! haha.

  • Sunday: sweet/hot BBQ brisket, roasted potatoes, salad
Monday: chicken pomodoro, whole wheat parmesan pasta, roasted zucchini
Tuesday: sloppy joes, green beans, baked potato fries
    Wednesday: leftovers
Thursday: kahlua pig quesadillas, avocado tomato salad,
Friday: cook out at friend's house, bringing peanut butter and jelly bars
Saturday: potluck at friends' house. Bring mozzarella caprese pasta salad
Sunday: out to dinner for my birthday with family
