Diaper changes at night time feedings

FTM here and I've read that you shouldn't change a wet diaper during night feedings in order to keep the baby in as sleepy of a state as possible... Does this start immediately after birth? Or once you try to stretch those night time feelings out and they sleep longer than every 2-3 hours? Or is this all wrong and I should change him with each feeding, even at night?

    I only started doing it after a month. But gee used to soil himself a lot during the night. Now he goes all night without any poo so I leave him as long as possible without a diaper change. It definitely helps because he sleeps through his nighttime feedings, called dream feedings, whereas before he'd be wide awake.
