Apparently you can't trust anyone...

*begin rant*
DH decided to go to the store today and get something to make for dinner while I was at work today. He knows I've been trying to eat really healthy so he picked salmon and asparagus (yum!) and checked to make sure he was supposed to get wild salmon and not farm-raised (yay DH!)
Fast forward to DH at the store asking if the salmon was wild and the guy assured him it was. DH said "I never really cared before but I guess it matters when you're pregnant..." Then the guy decides to pick up the phone and call someone to ask if it's wild salmon...seriously?? If you didn't know, why did you give a definite answer?? So if DH hadn't said anything about me being pregnant, they would have just lied/not cared enough to actually check before answering. So frustrating!

Well, was it wild caught? If so, I don't see what the big meltdown is. Why be pissed that the clerk was going the extra step to verify he was giving the right info? Maybe he was certain of his answer, but wanted to double check because, you know, he was actually concerned about the customer?

  • @VitaLuna my issue is the giving an answer before verifying that he was correct. If he didn't know he should have said "I'm not sure, let me check for you." I would appreciate the honesty since DH cared enough to ask so that obviously means we are concerned about the answer being truthful

Some perspective for you: I'm a nurse. I know the contraindications in just about every medicine I give. If a pt asked if it was safe for a certain condition they had and I knew it was, I'd say yes, but I'd sure as heck double check, too.. Because that's the right thing to do.

  • @VitaLuna again, my point isn't the double-checking. I want them to check if they're unsure. I'm in a job where if I'm unsure and just go with my gut, it can cost the company millions of dollars. So my issue is the "uh...yeah it's wild caught..." with clearly no confidence in the answer because as soon as he found out it was for someone pregnant, he actually thought to check his answer. Don't go with your gut if you're not 100% sure. That's my issue
  • Shut up and eat the damn salmon. A couple ounces of wild or farm raised isn't going to make or break you.

That is uncalled for and wasn't her point.

Totally agree very uncalled for. We are all here to support each other.
  • Support Yes, but we're allowed to have our own opinions. The man was kind enough to double check. Not everyone will find OP's grouses valid. We're pregnant, not terminally ill.
  • @wisco29 lol that happens to me all the time. Someone will mention something they're craving and I end up running to the store to get some because now I can't stop thinking about whatever the random food is
