January 2016 Moms

12 weeks tomorrow and traveling across country

DH is stationed in Texas. We are from Michigan. We're going home for the Fourth of July, thankfully! I'm so ready for some family time.

A 20 hour car ride is ahead of us. How exciting huh?

Any other mommies to be traveling for the fourth?
How do you feel about your adventures?

I feel ya. We are driving 9 hours to my parent's house for the 4th. Then flying out the next day to Mexico where we will stay for a week. Afterwards, we are driving the 9 hours back home and then flying out again to visit friends in Montana. I'm mentally preparing myself for these next two weeks. Don't forget to stay hydrated! Although for a road trip, that's very counter intuitive! Safe travels!

  • I'm flying to Kentucky on Wednesday for a family reunion and staying 5 days. I've been nervous about the trip but thankfully my partner it's going with me. I'll be 12.3 weeks when I leave, my extended family doesn't know I'm pregnant yet either. My Dr. assures me that it is totally safe and that this is the best time in my pregnancy to travel. I'm a nervous nelly though.
  • Wahoo! We went from Michigan to California and then zigzagged out way back. It was so long! But fun :) I was only 3-8 weeks then too though.
  • I've flown from Cali to tEnn and Cali to MD already this pregnancy. With an 18 month old. The flights alone are six hours totals and then you have to add in layovers, time to and from airports, time change. It's been hell. We're back on the east coast on October so family will have to wait until then to see us again.

We are traveling 6 hours to Ojai California to visit my mom. I'm less worried about me being uncomfortable and super worried that my 13 month old is going to act like a wild animal on the drive. He's never been in the car more than an hour.
    Praying for sleep!!!!!!
  • Been flying all through Australia the last few weeks. Have my big 14 hour flight July 2nd at 11w6d, bracing myself.....then home for a week and off to Europe from LA. Yuck!!!!!!!
  • I drove from central pa to daytona beach Florida 2 weeks ago. By myself. I did it in about 19 hours. It wasn't fun.
  • We are flying from Oklahoma to Vermont on Friday. I'm not looking forward to having to use the airplane bathrooms.

Just got back from 10 days in Pennsylvania and New York for vacation and my sister's wedding. Went fine although we're all exhausted. For those that are nervous, I went to Europe for 3 weeks when I was 14-17 weeks pregnant last time and had a blast. Travel is only really hard at the end when you are unwieldy :)

  • Hydrate + stretch breaks!
  • If anything, I'm worried about peeing and nausea.
    But thank you all.
Everyone traveling soon, safe travels to you all!
We leave in about an hour. Will be driving all night and all day tomorrow.
We meet up with my sister tomorrow, which I haven't seen her in 7 months. So I'm really looking forward to this. :)
  • My 1yr old and I are headed to upstate NY from AZ around the 4th for a week. Nervous about the flight for both of us, and the time away from our normal comforts and routine which has been the glue holding my sanity together lol. I'm sure I will have fun, but definitely feeling some anxiety, esp since hubby is not coming with.

  • For nausea just keep saltines and other healthy snacks readily available and stay hydrated. Gum helps too. Their isn't much you can do about peeing all the time lol. Hubby will just have to deal. You'll need to stretch your legs every couple hours anyway. Safe travels!!!
  • Yes to the snacks on the nausea front! Try to find what helps you. For me it's anything with a sour/vinegary flavor and lightly flavored drinks with bubbles (club soda, flavored sparkling water).
I'm 12 weeks today and we're flying from MN to Seattle on Thursday. With my family (and 9mo old niece). I'll be happy to have an excuse to stand and stretch and walk her around.
