You get nervous when...

I'm 7 weeks today and as I read these posts it makes me nervous. I feel like everything is going well for some ladies and then they go in and see something is not moving smoothly even though they haven't had any other issues show up. I'm nervous Bc it has felt like everything is going good so far but so scared for my appt on the 10th to hear it might not be. Is it really that common to have everything going right and your ultrasound be different?

  • It's hard not to worry, I get that. We are all experiencing the same feelings which is why this community can be reassuring. Hang in there, mama. Second tri brings less worry.
  • I agree with the above-enjoy your pregnancy and try not to worry about what ifs.

In general death seems to always happen in a manner that the person was fine last you saw them/knew and now they're gone. The same is true for a miscarriage sometimes everything is fine until it's not or until you find out otherwise.

  • I think missed miscarriages are very rare. Most people will get signs something is wrong. I also think an online forum gives a slightly skewed view. People who've had miscarriages are more likely to search out for support from people who've had similar experiences online. I think if you're relatively young, never had big health issues and everything feels fine, you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Someone posted a risk of miscarriage chart the other day that I found pretty reassuring. I will try to find it for you.

This is really depressing since last time I miscarried after that 9 week mark. Why me :(

  • I boiled the percent down and 1 in 5 women will miscarry before 20 weeks. That makes me both nervous and optimistic.

This- When applying for my visa to join my husband in the UK I completely freaked myself out reading forums (even though what we were doing was very straight forward!)... people with negative experiences tend to voice their opinions more.  Same thing with our brain if 9/10 experiences were good we don't look at the big picture but we focus on the one bad experience.  It's called our brains "negativity bias" and its an instinctive thing to warn us of danger/potential danger figuring its better to avoid taking the chance.

My first mc was missed, everything was fine until i had my dating us at 11w and found out baby stopped growing at like 8w5d i think, i had zero signs at all. My second mc i started spotting on a monday and lost the baby on a Friday, i was only 5w and some days then. So I'm very nervous for my first ultrasound, as they don't do much at my first appt at all. All of the what ifs run through my mind, every bathroom trip, every little thing- i worry... im really really trying to stay positive!
    fx for us all :)
