Beers for Diapers Party???

So 10 years ago when I had my daughter this type of party was not around. Anyone else's hubby/bf/man having one of these? It kinda sounds fun. I like the idea that he can have an afternoon/night to have a last guys night before baby gets here. I know we both have been overwhelmed and stressed on this unexpected pregnancy and having a hard time trying to figure everything out. Anyone else having one? If so when are you planning on having it? A month before due date? Or what? Is it something the we put together for him?

  • Agreed with PP
  • I don't see any issue with it. Dh was supposed to have one thrown by his bf with dd1 but it ended up falling through. It isn't something I would plan myself as it seems too similar to a shower to me but maybe a close friend or relative could plan it.
  • These types of parties are very popular and considered normal where my husband is from in Michigan. Traditionally a friend or close relative will host on behalf of the father to be just like a baby shower. Timing is generally closer to the end of the pregnancy like month 7 or 8. Unfortunately, they are not commonplace where we live in North Carolina so we will not have one.

  • With two mommies there are just too many people to invite to the quaint little shower that my sister is throwing for us. So my wife and I are hosting a Baby-Q.

This will be for friends, coworkers, and the guys who wouldn't want to come to the shower. This wil be more of a diaper party and we plan to have adult beverages available. I see no issue with us hosting this for ourselves. I don't think there is anything wrong with that. We're also from Michigan where these types of parties are becoming pretty common.
  • Big fan of the diaper parties! Awesome way to get the boys involved and a good reason for a get together! A for the beers, I wouldnt expect them not to drink. It's a boys night and kind of one last hurrah before the baby.

  • My husband coaches middle school baseball and his team wanted to throw us a shower. I felt uncomfortable with that since I had never met any of the parents before, but my husband suggested the "huggies and chuggies" party instead that will go along with their end of season party. I haven't heard much about it since the season ended 3 weeks ago, so it may not work out... But I still think it's a fun idea!
  • My husband doesn't drink, but even if he did, I just can't see him having a man-shower, which is what it is lol. We did a co-ed shower for my first, and I think that was all he could take, ever!

  • As tacky as it is, I've mentioned it to my husband's best friend. My husband doesn't drink either, but I figured a day on the golf course or a night of pick up hockey would be good for him... especially since he's been sleeping on the couch in my hospital room. Neither of us are fans of coed showers, so I thought this would be a good option for him to be recognized.
  • One of hubby's best friends is hosting this type of party during my ladies only shower hosted by my friend. It works out perfect because the guys can have something to do! He's got so many friends that are SO supportive and excited, we're considering ourselves very lucky that they want to help!
  • I have a friend who wanted to throw us a shower so she's having our group of friends over after we have the baby because we normally throw a Halloween party every year but aren't this year with the baby. Huggies & chuggies in the garage with the guys and a girl shower inside.

  • My husband plans on having one. His friend had one last year and it was great from what they say... they had enough diapers for all throughout newborn stage and had left overs even... so... I think my husband plans on having his beer and diaper party and he plans on grilling some wings too. This is a way for him to get out of having a joint baby shower.
  • They're common where I'm from although I don't think hubby's having one for him. He's not a big drinker but he has been to other's
  • Well I hadn't heard of it before until after it was brought up to the hubby from a coworker...he asked me my opinion and had to look it up...ALOT of different versions of it...but yes sounds fun for the guys....
  • We've been to something like this. But the couple was getting rid of all their booze. You brought diapers, you got to drink/take home their alcohol. Some of it was expensive too.

I have found the "huggies & chuggies" parties to be more common up north.

  • If someone else offers to host it then it could definitely be a fun alternative for the guys. I just don't think it's the best to host it for yourself.
