So... How in the world do I lose weight and still keep my milk supply up?! Is that even possible?! I'm nervous to lose my milk supply if I start focusing on losing weight... Please share your stories. Thank you!
It's always possible! You just have to work hard at it. I took this veggie beverage that helped me maintain energy as well as increased my milk supply! I was only able to breastfeed for a couple months but I dropped a little weight. I changed my diet, exercised more, and lost 30 lbs in those two months! Since I quit breastfeeding I'm only down 15lbs but I couldn't be happier!
I started weight watchers. I was already on the heavy side. I'm still 15 lbs heavier than before I got pregnant. I feel like I'm eating more, but making way better food choices. I've lost six lbs in 2 weeks, and I haven't been hungry at all.
Just make sure you're eating enough, but change what it is that you're eating. Lots of protein and veggies and fruit, take out the processed foods and make sure you get at least 3 good sized meals a day. You don't have to count calories to lose weight, just change the way you eat. Also make sure to keep yourself hydrated - don't overdo it but don't go thirsty.
I started counting my calories but aiming for 1800-2000 per day of healthy produce and protein rich foods. I've also been doing weights and abs 4 days per week and running or walking at least 5 km every day. I'm now 3 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight 3 and a half months post baby. I have not had any issues with my milk supply and have a very chubby little girl!
I read that during the 3-4 month post baby period breastfeeding moms go into a fat burning phase. Be patient and healthy and it will come off!
With my first, I didn't do anything special. Just kept up eating healthy, prepared meals at home, did chores around the house, drank lots of water, etc. Don't stress to much about the weight. Keep active, make healthy food choices, and drink lots of water. The weight will come off...
Like pretty much everyone said, it's not about cutting the amount of food but rather choosing better food. Protein, veggies, some fruits, some healthy grains, no processed foods or sodas, no simple sugars, and drink tons of water. I have a very very hard time keeping my milk supply when o work out. I have a fast metabolism already and low supply , if I'm working out actively I consume around 2,750 or more calories a day. But healthy calories. For me the trick is to make sure I'm drinking enough too. I like to workout outside and where I live in the summer it's in the 100s so dehydration is a serious threat.
I'm also doing Weight Watchers - I started after my 6 week check up. I lost the baby weight quick because I was overweight to start so I only gained 20 lbs during my pregnancy. But I have a ton to lose from before. I've lost 11 lbs since my 6 week visit (it's 11 weeks now) through WW plus I started doing a workout video this past week. I'm very satisfied and my milk supply is still great.
