Nausea overload!!

I'm 6 weeks and 3 days.
I wasn't quite sure what morning sickness would be like.. Before today I felt really sick when I was hungry, but today i've just had this lump in my throat and feeling like i'm gonna throw up any minute :(

Any remedies??

  • I've been nauseous for a week now. I'm 6w5d. I also get feelings of having to faint. It's been brutal and I haven't found remedies yet. I know water first thing in the morning isn't the best so I've been sipping on sugared sodas. I'm afraid to get dehydrated though! I never imagined me getting this sick because I usually have a stomach of steel! Any remedies that worked for other would be amazing. My sickness is constant throughout the day and is cutting into my productivity at work too!
  • I usually am able to help keeping mine at bay by eating protien snacks---cheese and cracker, hummus, yogurt, hard boiled egg, almonds or cashews, trail mix etc. that seems to really help. When my stomach is empty is when I feel the worst. So I try to keep something in my stomach at all times.

  • I've been nausious from w6 to w8. The past 2 days its been alot less frequent. Going away i hope! What helped me was essential oil - ginger rubbed on my stomach!

  • I'm nauseous all of the time, but only throw up if I drink wAter. I'm worried about being dehydrated!
  • @allisonn1000 What's wrong with water in the morning? Is it just harder to keep down? I am SO thirsty every morning so that's the first thing I grab (sipping slowly to keep the nausea at bay).

OP, everyone is different, but the best remedy for me so far is making sure I never get too hungry. Small snacks throughout the day (large meals make things worse) seem to keep my energy up and my nausea low(ish).

Tips from last pregnancy I got when i was such a lot !
Don't lay down after you eat. Sip water don't drink a lot at once. Don't drink any liquids when you eat.

When does the nausea end? I feel awful every hour of the day. I tried sea bands, ginger gum, B6, ugh!! I am going on vacation soon w/ DH and I don't want it ruined.

I'm the same way. Hoping it subsides a little before I go on vaca too or it's going to be no fun :/

  • I've been eating Preggie Drops. It's helps with the nausea at least while you are eating them. Which is better than nothing. After its gone the nausea comes back though. I got them at Babies R Us.
  • I thought my nausea was ending yesterday 8w 6d but nope 9w came with a vengeance . We are going to the beach next week and Im praying it lets up by then or gives me a 7 day break.
  • Ginger essential oil is amazing for nausea

  • Eat small meals throughout the day. Ginger ale helps too. Just sip small amounts.

Strong ginger chews actually do help me somewhat if I eat several over a couple of hours. So does fresh air and exercise, although it only helps in the moment and nausea returns once I'm settled again. As PPs have noted, if I eat too much or too little I'm screwed. Some days nothing at all helps though. I did get lucky when my nausea went away at every special event I've had recently so I was thinking mayyybe it could be helped psychologically... But I don't *really* believe that.

Aw crap, this is a redirected thread--whoopsies.

  • I don't know if it's just a coincidence but I went for acupuncture to treat my constant battle with nausea yesterday. I left thinking it hadn't done anything but today I've actually had an appetite and only puked twice in the morning ( usually my symptoms last morning till night)
  • @techytexmom I read somewhere that water helped increase gag reflexes in the morning but I've been drinking it now anyway. There doesn't seem to be a solution for me right now. I'm going to see if my doctor can prescribe me something. I had to leave work early yesterday because I kept throwing up at work. I hope this sickness is soon over.
  • I feel worse in the evening than the morning?? Morning I feel ok, get through most of the day at work, then it hits me around 2pm and doesn't stop until I sleep!! Anyone else experience this??
  • I'm nauseous beyond belief and also have a stomach of steel so never thought I'd experience this. I have been sick since week 6 and I'm currently 8w 4d. I've missed so much work. I'm going to have to tell my co-workers this week since they keep asking me if I'm okay. The doctors say it peaks at week 9 and then subsides through week 14 so hang in there, ladies. This is all very normal...so I'm told.
  • Pizza with ranch and hotsaice helped me :) also I blended fresh ginger with water and then heat up with some fresh mint from my garden.
  • I'm 6w today and I've been nauseous all day for 5 days now. I sip sprite when I can't do water and drink as much water as I can when that feels possible. I'm sucking on lemon drop candies a lot and that helps. Also, just taking it easy and trying to eat frequently seems to help a little. Even if you're not feeling the best on your vacation just try to enjoy the down time and the time with your DH! Best of luck!
  • @Naomi777 totally normal, MS isnt just in the morning with my DS I would feel bad all day and only be sick in the evening. This time it has no rhyme or reason all different times of day it comes/goes.
  • Preggie Pop Drops or suckers are magical for nausea!!!
  • I've been eating small meals throughout the day and it does help, but I get sooo hungry and really want a meal and the thought of it sounds good but then when its put infront of me I have to push it away :(
  • With my first son I was sick from 9w till 11w. With this pregnancy I started to become sick at 6w now I'm 7w 2d I'm hoping this ease up a bit. I lost 20 lbs with my first son I refuse to lose and more weight then I have already lost 5lbs. Mints seems to help me a little bit
  • @BabyHope2013, agreed! Eating something with protein every 2 hours has made a world of difference for me. I've been craving mostly carbs and was very nauseous. But after having a little hypoglycemic event (scary), I started upping my protein and eating snacks often. I feel so much better. I really recommend trying it. I've been eating hard boiled eggs, string cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, nuts and peanut butter and apple or rice cakes for snacks.

  • I've been such a struggle for the past week. The start of week 6, each day got worse and worse. I couldn't keep anything down so my doctor prescribed me Diclegis. It's b vitamins and an antihistamine so nothing too harsh! I'm still struggling in the morning, but the afternoons have been getting better! This is my 4th day on it and I feel the best I have in a while. Going on vacation for 2 weeks starting tomorrow so I'm happy to feel some relief and enjoy the pregnancy more! Hope this helps ❤️
  • I have been incredibly nauseous the whole time too and I am as far along as you. 6 weeks and 3 days. I try to munch on stuff.. Even if it is little crackers or bread.. Mashed potatoes have helped me a lot. They help me feel full faster.. Like I actually was able to eat something. Dairy products are supposed to calm the acids in your stomach a little bit too. My doctor told me ginger ale works for a lot of people. My mom swears by pretzels and sprite. If I eat something before I get out of bed in the morning I usually have more of an appetite the rest of the day and I don't get sick as much... Another thing that has helped me is lemon ginger tea. I am usually a coffee drinker but I've stopped, so now I have this decaf lemon ginger hot tea. The warmth helps calm that little lump in your throat.
    Hang in there!

I had no idea what to expect from morning sickness. I have been nauseous and throwing up since 6wk2d. I'm 7wk3d. Ginger oil helps me, I put 10-15 drops in water w lemon, also you can put it in smoothies and juice. Fruit has been a big feature on my diet lately and I know my prenatal vitamin is causing a lot of my nausea, Trying to locate a gentle kind. Congratulations, Good luck!
  • I have been drinking ice water with lots of lemon- it seems to help!
  • Unisom, Unisom, UNISOM!  I am telling you, you have got to try it.  It makes my days manageable.

I have still lost weight and still have food aversions, but I was miserable before Unisom.
