My heartburn is awful, all day everyday. I was up battling it for 3 hours last night. I take tums but I'm trying to tough it out this whole pregnancy and not take any other types of medicine.
I didn't even know what it was as I've never experienced it. I thought I was just getting some kind of 9:30pm MS. I Googled to see if my symptoms fit heartburn, and they did, so then I checked to see what was safe during pregnancy. After that, my darling husband ran to the drug store for Zantac so I could stay curled up in a ball. It is finally starting to not be every day and I am almost 26 weeks. I get the 75 so that I can try one, and then take another if I need and it really helps. Hope it gets better for you! It really is awful.
Yesterday was the worst for me yet!!! My esophagus was on fire and I couldn't stop belching. I'm trying to contol things with just tums, but if it continues, I will have to step it up.
My experience was similar to @cmjn94. It appeared around week 18 and stuck around more or less for 2-3 weeks. Now I am starting week 23 and have barely had any for the last week if not more. I do have a bit tonight, probably because I ate pepperoni pizza. It does seem to tend to be worse if I eat spicier foods. Though when I ate chili earlier this week I don't remember it causing it. As of yet I have not tried Tums or medication.
First, I must say the heartburn is better this pregnancy. With my son 6 years ago, EVERYTHING I ate or drank gave me heartburn, including water. I don't have it with everything I ingest, but I get it at night really bad...so bad, it wakes me up...probably every other night. Luckily, it's a short time in the span of everything.
Any time I have heart burn it's only on my left side. It hurts to breathe in all the way. I took some tums and it made it feel a little better. I used to have this happen to me every now and then but today was the first time during this pregnancy. Just right under my left breast and feels constricting- other than that I feel great. Any suggestions?
I've had it off and on, but lately I've just been feeling like food is stuck in my esophagus. It just sits there and makes me feel like I'll throw up if I burp. It doesn't particularly burn or hurt. Can this be a form of reflux/heartburn too?? It's super annoying. Sitting up is about the only thing that helps. Just one more thing to keep me from sleeping.
heartburn is sadly my life, no matter what i eat-- or even if i don't eat! sometimes it feels like my insides are actually burning. super unpleasant. and what bugs me is that things that i've eaten without any heartburn for months can suddenly cause me heartburn (ex., on sunday, it was an english muffin with peanut butter, which i eat probably 4 days out of 7 and never have any problems with!!). i can't function without zantac and tums. on a good day i can make it with just taking 1 zantac or just eating a few tums but haven't gone without one or the other in a couple of months.
I've had it twice now, once a few weeks ago (it was so bad it woke me up, and I couldn't fall back asleep!) and I've had it all day. I've never had it in my life!
Oh my gosh... It's been pretty much constant for the past couple of weeks and getting progressively worse. It's so bad I have actually thought I have had strepp it's that painful!!! 26 weeks... Baby girl must be growing all her hair this week
I heard apple cider vinegar helps. I tried it for the first time yesterday and it helped! I made some tea and just added one or two teaspoons to the tea.
Yes!! This is my 3rd as well and I didn't have it like this my last two pregnancies. Mine has just gotten bad the last couple of weeks. I was reading not to eat 3-4 hrs before bed and also tomatoes, or acidic foods- hope yours gets better soon
I had wicked bad heartburn for a week, every single night like clockwork. Milk did nothing. Tums did nothing. The minute my doctor told me to take some Prilosec and the OTC kind was ok... it went away. Haven't had any since! Swear, every time I call my doctor about a concern, it goes away and then at the next appointment, I sound crazy!!
Ughhhh heartburn no matter what I eat, and no matter when I stop eating. I have been avoiding food/drink hours before bed, and still get it. Luckily a single tums does the trick for me .
I have had heartburn every damn day of this pregnancy. I've noticed it's become more persistent since I've entered the third tri. I'm going to talk to my doctor to see if I can take something other than Tums (I seriously pop that Sh*t like candy). If the wives tale is true about the more heartburn you have the more hair baby is going to have then this girl is going to have hair down to her butt.
Re: HEARTBURN Any one?
I always start with Tums but if Tums don't work I eat peppermint! .
