I see so many birthing class threads and posts about people signing up-- yay! The time has come to start preparing. Seems so surreal!
Anyhoo, I have yet to run across a helpful answer to my particular situation-- I've looked through past posts and am unable to locate any threads that fit my question. My husband and I are planning to move within the next month, essentially cross country. I had signed up for local Bradley Method classes as I am wanting to focus on a drug free birthing experience, but with the pending move I am having to cancel for obvious reasons.
I have looked for an online course that focuses on med free birthing experiences and found one, but was curious if any other mamas have been in similar situations and utilized any online courses? If so, feedback would be much appreciated!
Re: Online Birthing Classes? Anyone?
I'm using the Hynobabies home study course. So far I am liking it a lot. So relaxing! But it sounds somewhat different from Bradley, so I'm not sure if it'd be something you'd like?
You might also check with the hospital you'll be delivering at - mine offers an online prepared childbirth course as an alternative to the in-person courses it offers. Good luck!!!
Sounds interesting!
I do plan on checking with the hospital we deliver at but we are in limbo. First week of July my husband flys out to talk with his potential head boss at the new office to see about salary and cost of living difference. If all aligns, we will go. If not, we are staying. It's semi frustrating not knowing simply because baby is coming regardless and I'm a FTM and have no idea what I'm doing. Ahh!
But, after my long rant, THANK YOU! I will for sure look into this option as well!
@McRad - Yeah there are so many different natural birth options out there! Hypnobabies ended up appealing to me because I suffer from migraines and I know that listening to something relaxing and getting into a quiet state helps me feel better, so actually learning a real "medical grade self-hypnosis" relaxation/pain relief technique sounded awesome. You are supposed to put in quite a bit of homework over 5+ weeks, i.e. listen to 30 minutes of the CDs each night and also do mini-practice sessions to learn the techniques, so I still have a lot of practicing ahead! But the CDs are so relaxing it is actually enjoyable.
I think there are some good discussions/comparisons of the different classes on these boards (hypnobabies, hypnobirthing, Bradley, Lamaze, etc.).
Good luck with the move if it happens! (I would be frustrated to be in limbo too!)
@devonsd315 - My MIL used Lamaze and said it worked wonders!
@swcm yeah I have read up on the different boards-- that's how I came to find and like the Bradley Method classes.
