Re: Agree on name, disagree on nn

  • Queen Victoria is one of my favorite historical figures and if I didn't have a cousin that I'm close with, I'd love to use the name myself! It's a name with a lot of gravitas! My cousin is Nn Tori. It works well on her...she's spunky and cute

  • I like just V (vee) as a nn. It's the nn we woul have used with Valentina.

  • I voted for using the full name, bit I like V too. Maybe Ria?
  • You can call her by different nicknames you know.
  • I love that no one is supporting Vicky yet. That's what DH would use as a nn. Our DD (who is 2 months old) was almost Victoria. But the deal-breaker was a stalemate about what to call her.

  • I don't like Vicky or Tori. I think V is cute, if you must use a nn.

I love Victoria but I could never use it because I hate Vicky and Tory.

So true. Haha... If anything, I'd use "V"
  • my cousin's gf goes by just Vic.  It definitely works for her.
  • V Money? Tornado? V-tor? Vicky-vicky-tor-tor?

    Just don't use a nickname.

  • I don't like Vicky or Tori. Victoria is lovely or use an unrelated nickname.
  • I think Victoria is a lovely name, but if you're already thinking of nn's, why bother with that name to begin with?

  • Well all, thanks for confirming what I've told DH a million times. Not everyone needs a nn. (His argument is that if ppl are going to use a nn, we should pick it.) I think we just need to drop names off the list if we can't agree on what to call them on a day-to-day basis, nn or not.

  • Our son Julian is called Jules, Julian or Booger (toddlers have a special flair for nose-picking). The nn you end up using may not be remotely close to the name and when she is old enough I'm sure she'll tell you a preference. If this is one of the only names you agree on don't toss it because of a nn dispute.
  • I love the nickname Tori. I tried to talk my husband into the name Victoria just for the nickname. Lol
