So, all day yesterday I'd been feeling off. Dizzy, lightheaded, neaseated, sweaty palms.. Tried calling my OB earlier on in the day but her nurse wasnt picking up the phone and the front desk couldnt find her anywhere. Which is typical as I've not seen this nurse do her darn job a single time. So I kind of sucked it up. Then a few hours later I started feeling real bad and asked my husband to come from work so I'd feel a bit safer with the lightheadedness. Didnt want to faint and be alone during it if I could prevent it. We ended up calling front desk again and they were able to put me through to one of the nurses for another OB in the clinic. She told me to watch for heart palpitations and the likes and to go into the ER if I ended up feeling any. My body seemed to calm down an hour or so after that call, so I thought I'd be in the clear. Nope! An hour after dinner everything was back with a vengeance, now including palpitations and shortness of breath. I dont like just going to the ER without making sure its warranted, so we called again. After hours this time, so we were put through to OB triage at the hospital. They told us to come into the ER as it didnt sound directly pregnancy related, and to tell them to send me upstairs if they thought otherwise. So off we went, to that darn ER again.
They did an EKG on me and had me hooked up to a monitor to see if anything was wrong with my heart, other than it feeling like it was about to jump out of my chest. Everything seemed ok there, so that wasnt helping much. They made sure to check on baby as well, who was very busy making sure people saw she was there.. kicks everywhere, she didnt want that doppler on her at all. Her hb was 148 so no worries there either. They monitored me for a few hours while making sure I was properly hydrated, and ended up telling me they had no idea what was causing this other than it probably being part of my pregnancy. A blood cloth was mentioned, but it'd include a scan to be sure it wasnt that and they werent comfortable doing that on a pregnant woman. The doctor spent a good amount of time explaining why he didnt think that was my issue and why a simple blood test would be pretty much pointless, also due to the pregnancy, and left the decision with me. Decided to not go with the scan because I tend to trust a doctors judgement if he's so carefully considering options in front of me.
I was then sent upstairs because of cramping I was suddenly getting in my uterus. Went into an OB triage room in the birthing center and they monitored babies heartbeat, my bloodpressure and heartbeat, and contractions for a while to make sure everything wasnt horrible. I did end up having some contractions but they went away on their own. The nurse there wasn't worried it'd happen, but told me to come running right back if I started having them again. Discharged and sent home.
I still dont know what was going on the entire day yesterday, and I do feel better right now, but gosh do those things scare me more than they used to! My thought process normally is something along the line of "well it appeared on its own, it'll go away on its own sooner or later" because I hate having to go in to a hospital.. but with this little one inside of me I dont want to take any risks. My husband is staying home with me today, according to him to make sure im ok. Meanwhile, he's hogging the bed being crazy comfortable now that hes chased me out by flailing. Thanks dear, but I think Id be more ok if I were able to get some rest.. Silly man.
Do want to give huge props to the nurses in the ER yesterday. Amazingly kind and caring. I've not had a single bad experience in that hospital and it just makes me tear up to think these men and women are up in the middle of the night to make sure people are safe. Not a single frowny face at working the night shift, all smiles and good moods, rather incredible!
Re: Ended up in hospital again.
I hope things smooth out for you and you can enjoy the rest of this pregnancy
