In case any moms or moms to be haven't heard of this yet, check out the Buy Nothing Project to see if there is a group in your area!

Basically it is a group of people in your area (mostly moms, in my city) who either post stuff or services offered for free, or post a request for something they need. No money, no trading. All freely given.
I joined my local group a month or so ago. I was gifted a bag of maternity clothes, newborn diapers, and unused Medela soothing gel nursing pads. Awesome! Then I was able to gift old (too small) clothes to one lady and a rocking horse to another lady.
It's a great way to build local community generosity, get rid of stuff you don't need that someone else wants, and get free things that you need! Of course not every item is gifted and not every wish is granted, but you'd be surprised by some of the things I have seen gifted freely between strangers!
Of course you need to be careful, like when using Craigslist. But my BN group does make you use your Facebook profile (less anonymity), which I really like.
