I developed some sort of mole by my groin...

I went to see the OB saw this brown mole-ingrown thing by my groin. I thought it was ingrown hair but she reassured me it was a mole... Came out of nowhere! Now I have to go see a dermatologist to see if it needs to be removed... Anyone developing things out of nowhere?

  • Could it be a cyst?

As someone who has been told by her dermatologist "girl, you have a ton of moles!", I wouldn't worry. I actually just saw my dermatologist on Monday and he assured me new and/or darkening moles is very common in pregnancy. (Yayyyyyyy)

If you've never been to a dermatologist for moles before, your visit will likely be them just checking and measuring concerning moles and giving you pointers on what to look for as you monitor them over time. If it's removed, the process is no big whoop, and they'll run a biopsy to let you know the results.
  • Yes! Eww I grew this thing right below my right bum cheek. It's almost like a skin tag but its not floppy? Haha so I'm thinking a mole. I hatee it! I haven't spoke about it to my OB yet but like another poster said, its apparently quite common in pregnancy. Yay for having the most embarrassing/gross symptom. Ugh.

Most moles tend to be normal. Unless it's weird shaped, bleeding, itching or more than two colors, it's probably healthy and nothing to worry about!

But seriously, that's the worse place for a mole! It get irritated so easily.
  • Side note- moles that could get irritated easily, like if it's on your bra line, could easily get scratched, etc. is also a good candidate for removal. I can't remember the term my derma uses, but it's something around quality of life, lol. I actually have one at my groin where my leg meets my torso (have for years!) and asked to have it removed because it was getting irritated more during pregnancy.

That said, moles are totally normal and nothing to be embarrassed about :)
  • Thanks all... I would post a pic but it might get reported...:/ It isnt nasty but it is Abnormal that 34 years of my life I've never seen it and it appears! Lol!
