I have several fantastic friends who have used baby things and they are so excited to give me. And some of it I'm sure I want. And some of it I know I don't want. Today I was offered a bed set that is Bugs Bunny. I don't care if I'm having a boy or a girl, I don't want it. So I'm trying to gently and politely be thankful and also be able to say no. I don't want to insult people and I certainly do want things that I can use! But just because you had it for your kid doesn't mean I'm going to want it or be able to use it for mine. Anybody else running into this dilemma? The other thing is I had another girlfriend try to give me a changing table which I actually want, but I don't want it yet. I don't have the babies space worked out and I need to do some work around my house before I start accepting things. But she was trying to put it in her car to bring it over right then. I don't want people cleaning their house out in to my house. & I feel like they are ready to do that. I'm not ready.
Re: Turning down hand-me-downs
Oh I already have been given 3 crib sets.... I even have spares.... oh I already have another friend giving me their changing table but thank you...
That may spare some feelings, and they won't know if you bought a new matching set or someone gave it to you.
I have been offered a ton of stuff too lol probably more than I will need...I'm going to have doubles of some things to keep at my moms....
